Insert button + Equites + spacebar = awesome

Sieging a small city, try hitting insert on some Equites or other horses if you haven't already. The fun is to scout ahead using the space bar

Spacebar can direct the unit in camera, with full camera freedom to look around (for those that didnt try this already)This means you can actively scout the town and look for slingers, skirmishers, the main line ... all instead of just combing over them with the battle camera.

Left mouse for zoom emulates taking a good hard look at enemies to judge what units they are.

Trot down the the beach and assess the reinforcements arriving by sea.

I use this technique to make the battles harder, until the **** hits the fan of course.

When the spears start running for you turn and click fast the ground back where you came from , run like hell and watch them recede. Or, watch as barbarian cavalry catches you and runs you down like happened to me the other day.Its pretty good fun.

And for those who don't know, taking control of siege engines manually (especially on ships) is so satisfying as well.

This also makes for some great AAR shots.

Except my aim is terrible. I trust the AI to hit better if it really counts. I could do with a mod to make the big red arrow transparent and not so red.

I take a lot of screenshots too. The graphics are very good IMO, despite all the complaints.

As far as getting in amongst it, I don't think we've had it so good.

I don't get the point of manually taking siege control, it doesn't shoot where you aim (random misaccuracy penalty), you can only shoot one siege unit at a time (!), the range isn't better, and as far as I can tell you can't even zoom which makes it extremely hard to aim without missing the first shot and adjusting.

The reload speed is very fast with manual, I know on ballistas and ship onagers its pretty much ready to go again once its finished 'landing'
The accuracy is bad but if its into big groups of mobs or a wall of a city you don't miss much, its fun to use too ofc.
