Everybody hates Ray....CARTHAGE

So i fired up a new Carthage campaign and began well enough....wasnt swallowed up or have my economy collapse as of yet but seriously everyone hates me. every turn a new group of monkeys declares on me. as of now i have 8 factions warring me. This is on normal as well. i cannot seem to make any peace or even a trade agreement with anyone. i have barely any armies and barely any income. suffice to say its not looking good for the Barcid bunch.

Is there some historical accuracy to this, or just another broken piece of CAs game. i really am trying very hard to make some in roads with Carthage....but.....

Playing as Carthage and it's the exact same on V.Hard, people hate you. Like, everybody, ever.

I tried a V. Hard Carthage campaign, needless to say it felt pretty much impossible. By turn 10 I am at war with all of the Iberian factions (with Kart Hadash lost to the Tudetani), all of the Numidian factions, Rome and Syracuse and my client states with only 1 settlement left.

I mean, if they make this faction so hated (that you can't even establish trade - which was a big part of Carthage's income), atleast don't make it so feeble with this stupid split of Libya & Nova Carthago.
In my opinion Libya shouldn't be a faction, with Nova Carthago controlling of the settlements in the Iberian peninsula under the Barcid family while the others have all of the territory in North Africa.

Looking forward for the mod which will fix Carthage as a faction.

My Carthaginian campaign starts turned out to be quite unpredictable diplomatic luck seems to be a decisive factor. As long as there are enough enemies of Carthage's enemies, I can concentrate on one theater. When all Carthaginian enemies bully up on me, I lose.

Playing as the Barcid family is a suicide. Play with the ones that have a minor diplomatic bonus. It won't make everyone like you but at least you get a bit fewer wars against you.

I play also with Carthage barcid and I have war with everybody. I play with very hard and have no problem to smash the romans - all nomads, Iberians and Syracus - you have to plunder south Italy and Syracus to have enough money to save your empire - also I build up a very strong fleet to smash all enemy fleets. After 50 years I have 2 strong army to conquer Spain.
But its very hard to play - you must fight with 1:5 and win.

Yet I never started a war myself...

The things im seeing in that campaing, its totally insane... almost every turn a new faction is discovered, the next turn they declare war. Sometimes im able to maintain trade relations a few turns before they join the fray.
Sparta broke their vassal state status early on, yet that did not prevent the greek states to put to sail against the nile.
A faction south east of me was destroyed (Main i think?), with its last stack it decided to go trough several regions from other factions, until it reached my lands....then it declared war on me.
Ofcourse it is not possible to negotiate a peace treaty, even when I offer 20.000 (which should be far more than what the AI have so early in the game), and none of the factions care about how many of their stacks I destroy.

This is beta-patch 3, so I can't really complain, but boy I was suprised compared to the stale and boring AI pre-patch.

The early game is cutthroat, but it also depends heavily on your luck. Many complain that their vassals are completely useless mine were the exact opposite. I assign them a war target the lead an army/navy against it, Syracuse declares war and Nova Carthago moves a fleet in position to cover Lilybaeum.
