Icon13 So sick of ranking up just to die.

Zero connection to generals and skills because 1 tpy keeps killing my generals and agents off.I spend a fortune shaping the faction senate but they just die like flies anyway!!, Never mind most agents and generals mostly start out at 40 asking for a job. Im sick of having to rank them up only to have them die and do it all over again. I never get to enjoy the skills tree, even building a army takes 5 turns, 5 years and i have had generals die while building a army lol.

I had Persius and thought great so i brought him into the dynasty tree and wanted to shape him as the future leader, 5 turns later he was dead

    I blame 1tpy

You know, there are mods that increase the turns per year from 2 tpy to 12 tpy.

Some increase the research and build times, aswell as the XP required required for generals and agents to level up but some don't.

i blame the lack of information about your members available to you... i feel like the generals are machines from where they spawn or why they are there... well that guy died tome to pick another out of the pool of 3 or 4... dont like his stats dont like his stats... i guess his stats are decent... heck yea hes going to be on elephants what kind of choice is that

Just look at it, you could get a general with 5 command "stars" from the start at age 16 or a complete failure of a character that would be a disappointment for decades. Even the senate was far supreme than Rome 2s.
Imagine if they made the Traditions system for legions change naturaly over time by winning/loosing battles or garrisoning tough provinces. You could have traits for your armies like "Historical cowards" or "Barbarian Hunters" or whatever.

What else this screenshot tells us how much information you could have at any one time on a screen: You can see your army, you can see the generals traits, what you are building, who you can recruit and your whole family tree all at the same time.
Now try to tell me how well optimised is the current GUI compared to this old one.

I allways write down on a piece of paper a full list of my family and their traits and personality to get an overview and from there decide what to do with the different members of the family. Promising and skillful characters are placed in my greatest cities or assigned to lead armies or, for the younger ones, to go into battle under command of experinced heroes.

I do not understand how CA can release Rome 2 with that joke of a family tree alternative. Utterly disgraceful and pathetic noob s..hit.
Catch you on the flip side.

Stop throwing the mods as excuses for CA's faults!

Yes I agree with the OP. And I dont get why this thread is marked by thumb down icon. OP said just truth. That“s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but truth. Mods cant excuse this as someone said. And which mods extend game for 4 turns per year (or more) but dont affect research turns?
Very good rocking song. The message of the song: WHEN PEOPLE LEARN TRUTH ABOUT UKRAINIAN WAR, THEY WILL GO INSANE!! (I suggest to turn the english subtitles on. Its over 18only because of violent pictures) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AAR6nUV7VI

If we can somehow come up with the infrastructure to create a family tree then yeah it's totally doable. This can only be done engine side if what I'm thinking is correct. Once you have the infrastructure in place the actual creation of families is quite easy.

This is a symptom of you playing shogun 2 for so long. Go dl the 2 or 4 turn per year mod, i use 4 turn, i have godly generals. That is all

That's how it is, you know. You learn, you plan, you prepare for something and then you kick the bucket all of a sudden. The only thing for you to do is to learn to accept it. This might be seen as an educational element of this game.

I also plat with 2 turn per year and I thibk it's a lot better for generals and agents. The only problem I still have is when an general is wounded and unfit for command I have to choose a new one. But when my 'orginal' general is recovered, it is not possible to sent him back to his army, unless I disband the army and retrain it....

if you look at your army details, specifically the tab with the info about the general, there is a button on the right labeled REPLACE. With this, you can swap out the general, without having to disband the army. The general who has been replaced, will simply go back into your general pool on the next turn

Not to mention how often a general get wounded right before battle and the game tells me afterwards "political intrigue". It can be like 4G for an assassination. Don't dump money so the enemy can kill us! And why would we need to assassinate them? If a couple of dudes kept trying to murder a king and his men, he'd just execute them.

4 turn per year mod to the rescue, but family trees you have to rely on ca for the fix.

op, that was the exact reason I look for the 4tpy mod when my 7 star spy died, after I spend so much money on lvling her up

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ
