Because the entire freaking 10 stacks of armies wouldn't build a single siege tower, and instead torched the gates and ran through boiling oil and pikemen blocking it.

What is the point of having siege rams/ladders/towers if the AI won't even build them? Heck he had enough armies he could just siege the city until I surrendered, instead I just won a civil war I should have had no chance of winning.

10k vs 1000 men and I win, ridiculous....

I think this is a good feature until they nerf the annoying civil wars that spawn 9 20/20 stacks of elite units in your capital/random settlement if your capital has an army. I almost got Veni Vidi Vici on my Athens campaign on Legendary after winning the Civil War, but the turns became 10 minute waitfests so I quit.

This is the first challenge in my Hard campaign, sadly its completely ruined by the fact that the AI, even 10k men, can't take a walled city.

I think burning down the gates isn't actually a bad feature it's just really craply implemented and the AI can't work it's way around effectively.

Rome 2's problem isn't necessarily bad AI. The problem is that the AI intentions is actually too good for what it can realistically do.

I think we will soon see a fix for this problem, as it's nothing fancy, probably just a simple command they forgot in the siege script. Build towers Y/N? Should be easy to do, as it has worked in all previous TW-games that I have played.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

This is not the only problem, the AI can't see you, it just tries to rush past to get to the flags and dies, well at least they die. You don't need 1,000 men to defeat 10,000, I think just one unit is enough to defeat a 100,000. I have seen some fights where the AI can walk through units my without taking casualties. I have also seen(patch 2) the AI walk through large rocks, which isn't fair because my javelins then bounced off said rocks.

My experience with civil wars are very positive so far and I have fought 3. I just had one of the most epic land battles I have had in a long time in beta 3.0. The Ai had 9600 and I had 8100 (3 vs 4 stacks) their army was very good and it wasn't an elite spam. I killed 6600 and lost 4900 and the battle was 36 minutes long! Civil wars DO NOT need to be nuffed they are based off of your imperium limits so if you role with the max limit it will always be an even fight. The sad thing is this will probably be the highlight of the campaign since there are no big factions to face. Also you can control when the civil war happens, if you want it to happen early then let your families power build. Personally I think my next campaign I'm going to wait until I max out my imperium before I let it kick off.

@OP Its unfortunate that you didn't get a massive field battle instead, sieges are broken a bit, but the Ai is better over all.

pretty crazy battle you have there Kinjo. It is good that you won but I guess they can't have just 4 stacks right?

Unfornatly The Siege AI is completely broken, i guess the real reason why they reduced the amount of Siegeable Cities so much is because they don't want Players to notice it. My last Siege defend looked like this: Enemy army attacking my walls with two units, rest of the army idling at the spawn, not moving for 60 minutes - except of the general unit he moved near my walls waiting there untill the entire unit was killed by my skirmishers (WTF!??)

Exactly. To script the AI building Siege sWeapons won't help a lot. Try it out in custom battles. If at all, AI will just move Towers and Ladders (Rams are completely ignored) to the wall and after me defeating the "tower"/"ladder"-troops on the wall, the rest of the enemy army won't do nothing. They're just standing in the distance, looking at my ing walls.

And even if the enemy can win the walls, the troops just keep standing on the wall, looking down at the city, again doing nothing.

This game is broken in so many ways,... give it up.

It seem Siege AI only know to attack through the gate. Anyway the pathfinding over wall is pretty much broken even for player so It may be why the AI unable to get to the wall. I find some case the AI knock off wall and attack just fine so must be pathfinding related
Empire II and Medieval III pls
