I went wanna-be-roman because of the HBO series. The Lucius Vorenus character was just way too cool - he was a serious bad-ass and a real bro. I got into the TW series because RTW, and I got into RTW because some forum post somewhere said it was the best Rome game ever made - and after the HBO series a Rome game was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
So, indirectly, Kevin McDidd is to blame for my TW addiction.

Forget that hyped up pussy piece of chopstick called katana (in reality katana's are weaker and more fragile than gladius or longsword, and more often then not less sharp - gladius and longsword has much more history of warfare dating back to before japanese civilization even existed).
Forget plate armor or leather 'armor' they wear for 'protection' in other civilizations.
Lorica Segmentata is where it's at! Along with good chain mail of course.
On a side note, I liked ray stevenson as pullo better for some reason. Vorenus got the short end of the stick of fate too much for my liking.
