Chartage & Roman Frendship Campaign - a story of war
Hi all,
With so many complaints and mix feelings beta stuff about the game - I've decided to have some faith and fun as best I could have imagine it and finally I managed to find that perfect game. I'm basically using 4 of Radious Mods (Ai, Battle, Graphics, Unit) and the latest patch 3 beta - and I'm playing on very hard as Chartage.
The first part of the game were insane, everybody wanted to declare war on me, I had to go back in time and buy non-aggression pacts several times until the situation stabilized itself (8even with the same clan)... soon after the Romans declared war, but they did it a bit to early and I managed to get my agents up and help the Etruscans hold on until my single army managed to push the romans from lower Italy and make them a client state, these days we are close friends (*80+ had to betray some of my own and sign join war deals with the romans) - but the Punic past is now almost forgotten and other hard wars have replaced the pain, I'm fighting to help Rome stabilize in the North of Italy while also trying to grab more land in Africa, fights are tough and I find my self using old AI tactics of mass rush.
All in all it was one of the best TW games until now - so I strongly suggest you create yourself a bipolar ancient world with Hannibal deciding to make peace at the gates of Rome.
Have fun,
Burebista

Good choice. As Rome, early on the barbarian confederacies were quickly becoming a huge threat. I'd just put down the Etruscans and threat of war from both the confederacy in the north and the Egyptians in the south could have been the end of me. It all turned around when Carthage in much the same situation asked for peace, trade, and defensive treaty.
Before long I had taken Britain, Carthage had taken Egypt, and Nova Carthage had a firm hold in France. It was a long and profitable alliance but as time went on and I subjugated the Greeks, I found myself becoming paranoid. With the majority of my forces nearing the borders of what would be Russia. All but one of my borders was guarded by allies and servants. I figured the Greeks hadn't enough power to fight me ever again but Carthage and Nova? Surely they did.
At first I was content to payoff Nova to split from Carthage and form a defensive alliance with me. But as time went on, Carthage started asking more of me and there fleets moved towards my borders. All the while Nova became weaker as famine set in. Shortly after, with my eastern border guarded by both my and the Greeks forces, I turned towards France and struck down Nova as a display of power. Sadly my long alliance with Carthage had come to a end, they ended the defensive alliance and started a non-aggression treaty with the Armenians. With myself, the Armenians, and Parthia being the major powers and about to fall into a three way war. I moved against Carthage before they could side against me.
I somewhat regretted it, having to rush the production of navies to protect what once Carthage had but it was the necessary end to a sad chain of events.
