    Default What to buy, what to buy?

    So I've got this pc and I dont know what to do with it before the new generation of games hits me. :hmmm:
    A few months ago I bought a soundcard which was pretty expensive, but now I've recovered from this moneyblow and I want to buy some new parts but since my experience with hardware is still limited I'm asking you what the best course of action would be for the end of November. I will have accumalated about 250€, though if I wait till the end of December I will get atleast a 150€ extra for my birthday.
    These are my specs:

    Note that my pc can run every game including Doom3 Prey at highest graphics with no lag, my friend told me my GPU was probably overclocked.

    Check what video card you have, Your processor and ram looks fine. Right click desktop, go to properties, settings, and it should tell you.

    While I've never run AMD, I'd vote for more system ram, something that just never appears to be 'too much'.. correct me if I'm full of it, but appears your at about 1 gig of same?

    Especially for games so intensive as R:TW etc (Oblivion?);

    Depends on what your mobo readings mean, of course, lol!

    I'd say upgrade that, everything else seems to be in order. Current games do not need more than 1GB RAM, but you could always buy an additional gig of that for the future. I'd suggest to buy a geforce 7900GT now, and when you get money on your bday, one gig of memory. I wouldn't buy DDR2 since you've got the socket 939, but I'm not an expert on that area...

    What about those new series (dx10?) that are due out in a couple of months, any pricetag?

    Well if you wanna wait then I suggest you do it, but if your games lag now just wait for M2TW. I'm waiting to buy a completely new systme when there are decent prized/quality DX10 cards out, but a month ago I still upgraded cuz my old coultn't even play games like Oblivion, BF2 and Hitman: Blood Money!

    The 6600GT is one of the best cards ever, it's lasted fr 2 years now. But now the inevitable is coming, it's aging...

    I run 2 gb of RAM, I did notice a nice boost when I went from 1gb to 2gb, however I do run a lot of fairly memory intensive apps. You can get a 7900GT for about $300(cad) and an extra gig of ram for $100-$200 (depending on speed and CL). Make sure, that you get your ram in matched sticks, as it tends to work better in dual chanel mode when the sticks are matched(even though I dont think the NF4 expressly requires this).
