I suppose this is pure vanilla.
Did you update your mod to respond to the patch 3 ?
Because without your mod, battles are not enjoyable.
test 2
After the last patch blood appears only in the place of the real defeat projectiles. Looks more natural.

Ugh the units changing direction, I hate this so much it hurts, idk what is causing this but CA should pay attention to it. +rep for posting
I read on the official forum that a player says that to keep their formation in patch 3, units, as soon as they have an ennemy turning them, on their side were turning and turning, trying to face the new ennemy, forgotting the one that is in front of them. I saw that since the beginning with the bowmen, they turn each time they changed their target, even when it's unecessary, loosing time in their defense and being charged by the other before having fired one single arrow. I read a lot of posts since yesterday on various forums, it seems that a lot of people have problems with patch 3: more lags, strange behaviours for units etc.)
Strange. In my game they don't do that but they always attempt to flank, which is what I assume its failing at in your pics? If so I've yet to see pathfinding this bad outside of 1.0.
i have opted out for patch3 after few battles.. i don't like the new turning mechanism for units which completely destroys the battle plan, while it didn't even prevented blobbing which still happens quite often in urban battles.. While behavior in Patch2 wasn't ideal, its much better than p3. Plus, with P3, i have a huge FPS drops everytime units get into melee, which never existed for me before - funny part is, when i run benchmark i have minimum FPS 59 with vsync...
test 4
To help AI, I chose the same units.

Those who wrote 'Battles Are Much Improved With Patch 3', may be we have different games?
This happened to me in the patch 2 version as well. Do you think it has anything to do with you having pike phallanxes? I think its not as bad if you dont.
Battle without pike phalanxes looks the same.
How did you get blood?!
Can anyone explain to me what is the BAI ?
Battle Artificial Intelligence

(units are 2 hoplites and 4 Hellenistic Royal Guard, no upgrades)
i dont know why its different(maybe we really have a different game ) or maybe i did something special?
P.S the Units didnt attack till i was like 15-20 m away from them.
Did you try posting this on the official forums, Id love to hear something from CA about this. If memory serves me right this was somewhat of a problem in the early builds of Shogun2 but not on this scale.
CheesyFreak,I got the same result.
Just magic-symmetric combination.
Unfortunately it seems is the limit the complexity of for AI.
yeah you're rigth, i tried a full stack battle as macedon against Rome and their line infantry was unsure who to attack and whent rigth in to my pikemen, but there is potential, their cavalry got rid of my skirmishers and tried to attack my general before killing them.
i have my hopes that sooner or later the BAI will be halfway competent, but that day is not here yet.
Is the BAI trying to after what it thinks as the more threatening opponent or is it trying to avoid it?
