    Default Found this with regard to costs of troops and other things...

    http://www.tulane.edu/~august/handouts/100coin4.htm

    so......Thorax Hoplite unit costs 13(talents) and has an upkeep of 2(talents)

    cost scale in-game is way off as it is set in talents...I've modified my mod accordingly...

    Some may wish to do the same...

    Talent = 6,000 drachmae or 60 minas

    In game you get "free" reinforcements, so paying extra upkeep doesn't seem unfair. You're just forced to buy insurance or something on top of the real upkeep cost

    If you want a realistic upkeep system, you have to simulate the ancient world's economy as a whole to reflex the real management cost.

    actually that same 'talent' weighs in @ 27kg or 60lbs...thats a lot of silver(in my mind) I'd rather adjust prices to match and have bigger more varied armies(since I max armies out at 100 units)...the economy of the game is perfect actually...like really close to real world stats for the times. Up about 15%, I'd say in respect.

    From where do you get free reinforcements?..if you are talking about army recovery...I wouldn't say its free...armies replaced their numbers all the time. In that time it wasn't hard to replace warriors as it was the primary occupation for men...only population numbers stopped armies from being big...wasn't a problem for many factions at the time.

    Nor would this be reflected in the upkeep...an hoplite mentioned above had a daily wage of 2 drachmae...x30days...x160 men doesn't add up to 2 talents. You could add another '1' talent for feeding them all, in addition to pay...but any more that that would be overzealous...or a recipe for obesity. Cavalry cost would be 3x to 4x this in order to reflect foddering the horses...

    This change also fits within the economy in the game very well...and battles are EPIC!

    What does the AI do with the extra funds? Does it build a bigger standing army (which seems a sensible thing to do)?

    Consider also that the Parthenon cost the Athenians only 469 talents...so I fixed buildings as well. Looking to reduce the cost of agent actions to at least 10% of current costs. I get that asking some to risk for country was costly...but you make them billionaires for all their efforts. Not terribly realistic. Base cost for actions should be 5 to 10 talents...you know...you gotta still make it worthwhile. LOL!

    @Southern Hunter ... yes, when you make it possible to have more agents/general(db/campaign_variables) the factions create more armies of differing sizes, building its armies to meet its goals, plus, there is more money for diplomacy and other surprises as well ... welcome to the more immersed game ...
