Default (Help) Replacing the Roman UI

I know the file's needed and the file paths to use but only some parts are replaced when I play the game. I assume this is because of the pak files being read first and some of the have UI features inside.

So my question is, how do I go about replacing the Roman UI quickly and easily with the one I want to use?

    What mod?

    @ Wolfen,

Unpack everything in your "Data/packs" folder (using Vercingetorix xpak tool). Then drop the new "Data" folder created in it in your "Rome Total War" folder (so it overwrites your main "Data" folder) and erase all ".pak" files in "Data/packs". If done properly, you will now be able to change anything you want without worrying about ".pak" files loading first.

@ The Walrus - What mod I am currently using?

@ TiFlo - I know of that solution, but I hear it can slow down the game, I was hoping for another way.

I didn't get any slow down, and I don't have a huge computer. And Damn, since I've done this I've changed so much in my own game! It could not be better.

Unpacking it all just crashes my game on startup unfortunately.

Edit - Will try that limes, thank you.

Just one small question, Arbaces programm, where do I find this?

So, you have to repack your UI.pak files or make mod_0 or mod_1 pak with your additional material. Unpacking is not a problem, but packing. Thanks God we've got Arbaces . He made parser for packing files. Very good tool.
There is possibility to unpack single pak files, but it's enough if you use following procedure.

    1. Make copy of your pak files.
    2. Then unpack all pak files with xpak.
    3. Copy back all pak files into RTW/data/packs.
    4. In data/packs/data folder you have all unpacked packs - delete all besides UI
    5. Then you have to leave all folders, subfolders with proper files where you're going to add new UI cards. Delete rest.
    6. Then replace old UI cards files with new ones.
    7. Now, use Arbaces programm to parse files.
    8. Read instructions made by Arbaces and pack back your files.
    9. Name your fresh packed file mod_0 or mod_1.pak. It depends on whether you've mod_0.pak in your packs folder.

    limes

Ps. TiFlo is right. There are no problems or slowdown when you use unpacked packs. Unpacked files take more place on HDD. That's all.
