Default Feedback - Patch 3 Performance

Performance in patch 2 was not great, but it was playable.

But in patch 3 the game isnt playable, i get consistent 2 second freezes every time i click on something and every 5-6 seconds, and the freezes persist in the battle map, along with considerable frame drops which were tolerable in patch 2 but here in patch 3 its a ton worse and it isnt tolerable.

I dont know what you guys did in patch 3 to cause this but please revert it, i cant play Rome 2 this way.

No big change for me, only minor improvement on performance (not gonna start on the gameplay mess) but still long way to go before my 680SLi rig can handle this game in a way that I can enjoy it.

Good going CA, you really must be proud of your hard work.....

The only noticeable changes for me from a new campaign were the removal of the flags where they didn't make sense (i.e. the defender had no navy) and the removal of zombies.

What settings you have on kostas? I have almost everything on extreme, but have turned off anti-aliasing, shadows reduced to high and now heat/glow effects on. The game runs fine.

same for me, 5-2 fps when zooming in battle

Lost 4 more FPS in the "forest" benchmark when compared to patch 2. Campaign map performance seems about the same as before. So far the initial release version had the best performance for me - FPS has been slowly deteriorating with each patch. Gameplay-wise the only marked improvement for me is the removal of some of the "victory points".

    @Leraje
Must be an individual problem. I got a 3 to 4 average FPS improvement with both patches yet. In the Forest Benchmark I have 42 FPS Average on Max Settings. I have a Intel 3570k, 8GB Ram and a 660Ti with 2 Gb Ram, so not even a high end rig.

Haven´t tried the new beta patch though, I rather wait for the real patch release.

@ BigEl-nobody - not bad at all I can barely squeeze about 31 FPS average out of it on max settings.

Well after the Release I saw people suggestion to put rome 2 on a SSD so I did that and that maybe have some impact on the performance, especially on loading saves or turn times.

Besides I use Tune Up Utilities 2013 and its Turbomode to get every Ounce of Power from my PC to run Rome 2. Still it seems surprising that I have a better performance than you :/

I also use Radious Graphics Mods which disable some effects like the little smoke clouds on pilum impact etc., maybe that gives a little performance boost as well.

I think it can be said that Rome 2 is technically not very constant when it comes to different PC rigs. Some have huge problems with graphic bugs for example... I had barely any technical bugs in over 60 hours of gameplay.

Get a little less FPS in battles than before patch 3, but I LOVE the gameplay changes and improvements otherwise.

So we are at patch 3 and CA is still trying to get this game to run right for the 2%, at this rate I can't say I'm impressed. There isn't anything that really stands out in the patch notes as a must have fix other then the hole they plugged Stonehenge in, now we are only missing 10 out of 12 wonders. Where are the other 10? They say they fixed a small hole in the campaign map, but what about the ocean that is in Bactria? Emblems are still screwed and out of the 30 or so support threads I submitted only one of them has been addressed.

Mines running alot better performance wise on Patch3.0 than on 2.0. I'm running a decent CPU i5 4670k@4.0ghz, mid range GPU Radeon 7770 ghz edition, 16 gb Ram if that helps anyone

well, I think I am gonna play with rome 1 mods till this gets sorted out. I love the frequency and the meatyness of the patches, but I hate having to restart a campaign every week. gonna play, eb, rs2 and darth mod for rome 1 they will keep me interested in rome 2.

No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Since Patch 3 I cant play the game, it crashes and freezes A LOT. Before I could run the game in ultra, now I have low performance with low settings...
