    Default Guard mode?

I have a question as I don’t have the game.

When a players unit attacks and routs an enemy unit it does not pursue the routing enemy unit, in RTW1 this was known as Guard mode the players unit was instructed to stay in place.

My question , in RTW2 after the players unit has routed the enemy does the players unit react if its attacked by another AI unit does it defend itself, I have read reports that the players units are simply standing still and not defending themselves from other AI units after they have routed the first enemy unit.

Can anyone confirm this or anything like it.

when I let the enemy charge my line and I win... all of my units return to their former line formation.

So all those people who are yelling that they want guard mode back are basically only asking for an extra unnecessary button.

Yeah an extra unnecessary button that will be able to turn the guard mode OFF! As it is now your units charge an enemy unit and when they rout it they keep still while a missiles hit them from 2 metres away. They even start celebrating theyve routed a unit while they are still engaged with anotherone from the side, its horrible.

The lack of an optional guard mode triples micromanagement that was unnecessary in any previous TW. So much for streamlining the game.

It's needed back, all of the necessary buttons are gone and all the unnecessary ones are there in their stead. Need it to have units actually maintain cohesion and stop being completely braindead.

I am not really asking about guard mode but what happens when the player attacks the AI routs the AI and then goes into what CA have called the default guard mode what happens then.

So player gives a unit a task to attack an enemy unit, routs the enemy unit and waits for further instructions. At this point what happens if that unit is attacked by another AI unit does it respond by defending itself, does it raise shields? does in fight in melee or does it do nothing.

what happens is what happened in guard mode.

if unit is attacked by range it will do nothing as usual, if its attacked melee it will fight till either routes, if it stays it will reform in place

I actually like guard mode being on by default. What CA fails to mention is that you can not turn it off! Also, chasing down routing units is broken atm. Cav can do it sometimes but infantry just end of running next to the routing units and fail to kill ANYONE!!
