Just a simple idea of a gladiator mini-game or something similar to pass the time while you are having your turn would be great.

100 pushups between turns.
I started watching documentaries on my phone while I play due to the excessive turn times, but eventually I would become more interested in the side activity than actually playing the game. Rome 2 has been a great educational tool in that regard. I don't know why they don't just go toing real-time and be done with it.
The last patch has cut turn time to around 30 seconds now. This is on an ancient machine, with a 2007 cpu (Q6600), mobo and slow ass hard drive, the only decent element is a 460 nvidia gpu.
I agree that 30 seconds is a long time, but for me that is down from 2 minutes. I guess I'm lucky.
Honestly, it's rekindled my faith in CA and I think 30s is around acceptable. I hope the future patches help you guys out. (and there's still so much to work on!)
I tab out of the game and have a quick browse on the net!

A turn takes like 20 sec for me.. even on 200 turns.
Windowed mode plus Reddit during end turn times works for me. Although for the first 60 turns turn times are great since patch 2 at least they are for me.
