I like the canon. Very good stuff. Has it been done for a specific purpose or just for fun?

Regarding the guy above, it really makes me think about 90's games
Just to critic a bit (can't help myself): I would make the eyebrows a bit thicker close to the nose or move them slightly down (to follow the beginning of the eyebrow arcade).
Also I would make the head like the face. If you keep a "few days" beard on the face, then you need to do the same for the hair on the head.

Oh boy it's been a while. Work, Internship, and general Murphy's Law have been a bunch of fun to the progress of this guy. Here's a quick no posed render of a Gremlin, a monster for a game I'm working on.

    Very good stuff as usual

Just to be pedantic, with this kind of legs, you shouldn't make feet. Basically, the gremlin should stand up on his toes because his feet start from the "knees" on the back side of the legs (which is actually his heels). It should look like this:

This is just if you want to be as close as possible to the real anatomy of course.
But this is your model, so your choice

Thanks mate! I had a little bit of a difficulty in modeling the legs due to the various opinions on anatomy for such a style and yes in the very near future I believe it would be best for me to go and fix it. Sure It means a hell of a lot of work to clean it up but I rather have it look right than wrong.

I used to draw a lot when I was younger (no more enough time for this now ) and it helps me a lot when I'm modeling or working on Photoshop. I'm also using this website: www.anatomynext.com
You can get a free account for a limited period but sometimes, they offer you a permanent access for free (which I got).

Okay, so I fixed the legs and added additional detail (except veins). How much better is this in comparison?

That looks much better from my humble opinion. The legs and feet are perfect now

Excellent. Now I have to retopo, bake texture maps, and retexture it again! Oh what fun!

Okay, here are two monsters that I completed: The Flesh Hound and the Gremlin. Any last minute thoughts/tweaks (such as color) before I slap these boys on the portfolio Saturday?

Nothing to say except that these fellows are great stuff again and as usual

The gremlin looks much better now compare to your 1st version. Well done.

I guess the the flesh-hound is a mix between dog and octopus
I'm just wondering if a small membrane of skin between the tentacles (like for real octopus) would improve the model I'm not familiar with flesh-hound except those from Warhammer who are a bit different regarding the head. So my remark is purely for aesthetic purpose

    I really like your models

Thanks for the comments. I just have a feeling that the colors overall between the two feel very same like and for enemy differentiation I should change one of them.

In that case, I'd go for something more "red" for the flesh-hound, a bit something like muscles without skin if you see my meaning

So I got a review of my work from a couple of AAA artists from 343 studios today at the special 3D Seattle Artists meetup. They looked at my stuff and they concluded it was sub par and mediocre. At least in the end of the day I got some really good feed back on what to fix with my existing pieces, but honestly at this point I just better start from scratch on new stuff with this new information. Back to the drawing board!

Well, pro artists have probably much higher criterias than ours. We're talking about another level

"From the depths of reality, a hideous creature returns from it's stygian pits. It crawls on it's belly towards a tablet and pen, leaving behind an ooze that smells vaguely of mountain dew and Doritos. With malicious intent and depravity, it returns to the surface world and once again plagues it with digital art."

In other words Merry Christmas! I have new things for you to look at. There are more images of them on my site: http://www.sawyermodels.com/3dmodels

Also here is a CGI background I did for Victory Studio's "Band In Seattle". It was made with Blender and GIMP. I hope to never have to use those programs ever again.
