[Question] Hoplites units - depth in phalanx mode

Hi guys,
can somebody help me with an issue that comes in hoplites when using the phalanx ability.
I want the maximum men number by unit to be 320, so I modified the num_men and num_max_men fields of the main_units. Having done that, when I use the phalanx special ability, the unit correctly compresses itself but at the same time the men number in the front line decreases. That causes me problems because, when I use this ability in a battle, dangerous passages between units come out.
I would like the unit's width not to change when using the phalanx ability but to compact only in depth, whatever is the rank's depth.
Perhaps is matter of rank_depths field in the land_units? I tryed to change it with many values, but I had no results.

so, i think if I want hoplites to form phalnax correctly i have to play with vanilla size units ...
