Default Rome 2 Graphics same as Shogun 2?

I have been enjoying Shogun 2 on High settings at 45 FPS under load since it's release.

My scratchbuilt system being an old Dual Core 3.6 Mhz, 1/2 dozen gigs Ram, and an old overclocked 8800 GTX, I have been quite satisfied with any FPS above 35 under load. (comments telling me to just buy another system are not being asked for and unwelcome)

I took some heart when I heard that Rome 2 was meant to be the same graphical requirements, but have now heard players reports otherwise.

Has anyone heard whether they are still planning on patching Rome 2 up so that it runs the same as Shogun 2?

Assuming that they DO fix it just half-way; What are others expectations of my system handling Rome 2 on high settings?

Rome 2 demands A LOT MORE from your system than Shogun 2.

Thanks. If that is true, then I'll just wait until the Rome 2 engine is turned onto Medieval III. My next upgrade will be for a new socket motherboard, and I can hold off on that until CA gets the kinks out anyhow.

Well, it seems they don't fix the bugs in between releases. They actually add more with every new game. They eventually fix some of those bugs by patches.. but then in their next game, many of the same bugs will be back. As if they started every new game from scratch instead of building on a better and better foundation.

I'm pretty sure we will soon be able to shut up the adviser in battles for examples. But then he will be back in the next game.

If you're waiting for Medieval III you might have to wait a very long time, as the next game will probably be fantasy-based, with an expansion coming out later for that too. If it becomes a success, CA might abandon the historical settings completely.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

Shogun 1 got me excited when I first started playing it back in 1999. But it was Medieval 1 that ate my Life whole a couple years later.
    Same engine but with refinements.

I thought Rome 1 was kinda disappointing, with blocky clones, empty landscapes, and Hollywood voices, but I found Medieval 2 MUCH more enjoyable, and played it for several years.
    Same engine but with refinements.

Like many others I found Empire to be a clumsy godforsaken mess! But I am STILL playing Napoleon with much joy to this very day.

So through my 14 year love affair with TW titles, I find my expectation of CA working kinks out to be well earned.

And as for waiting. I'm in my freaking 40's. So as long as I see it within the next three years or so, I'll be like "Wow, that was fast!"

I really can't imagine CA confusing medieval history with fantasy. neither for design sake OR for marketing purposes. I can see them screwing an engine up with mismanagement. But speaking as an OLD history buff, and a teacher, AND a game design contractor, you don't build a historical research team and assets library like THAT and just throw it out the window cause some kids might like to see a dragon.

actually it doesn't demand more, what happens is this game at current state is very un-optimized. shogun 2 at start kinda had the same issues, but was patched down the road and on my case i had a significant fps boost !!

Well that is just the sort of past experience that has me hoping. I'm wondering if I'm missing a thread where CA rep are discussing how this might be the case. I don't care if people are getting hammered with performance issues NOW. That effect is clear. I want to know if there is any talk about reigning them in, and by how much.

Also, I've long recognized Rome 1 strengths, and applaud CA for some really good game design. But the product was much more improved upon in Medieval 2.
