    Icon14 Since Patch 2...

Many thanks, CA, for all the hard work you're putting in to improving our game experience.

Since Patch 2, I have noticed the following:

    - Battlemap FPS are still the same (very low) when zoomed in
    - Campaign map FPS - not noticed any difference
    - Campaign end-of-turn-times - these seems to have become worse (or maybe it's just that I am getting deeper in the campaign)
    - Campaign map freezes - seem a lot better, thanks!

I've seen some good moves by the AI since Patch 2 (please note I am also using the combined Radious mod):

    - I've seen the AI merge 2 small armies into a large single army
    - AI has been attacking my weakest points
    - Seen the AI do several naval invasions
    - AI is generally defending its settlements with some reasonable armies
    - AI is generally building larger and more balanced armies (full stacks sometimes)

Playing as the Suebi on Normal it took me many turns to destroy the Rugii. They were quite persistent. Now its the Lugii who are being persistent and building full stack armies and sieging some of my settlements. I need to destroy them and then decide which of my 2 very powerful Celtic neighbours I want to attack...

    I'm having a blast!

yea, I only noticed a small improvement on the campaign turn times and lag. this could take months of patching like etw. I will have move on by that time I am sure. mid game end turns is about 1 to 2 mins with skip ai turned on that isn't playable. sometimes I am just training troops and building stuff, and have to end turn a few times in a row fast = 5+ mins of just waiting around. when that happens I just turn off the game altogether as I get bored. CA needs to make this their #1 priority imo.

I want to play the game, not wait around

In the Unmodded game I am still having issues with the AI. I recently had a siege battle between 600 troops of mine and over 5000 enemies where they abandoned their siege equipment and stood a bunch of troops right in front of the gates being attacked by arrows. Eventually I managed to trick them into burning down gates by sacrificing two of my units at which point they gave their entire army a move order right through the center of my tiny smattering of levies. I lost 150 men, they lost more than 2500, decided to reload the quicksave and just autoresolve. :\

Although there we speed improvements in the campaign map, one issue still remains: the game becomes slower as the campaign progresses

You will only experience the endturn improvement when starting a new campaign. The patch is savegamecompatible but not for all improvements. I played 120 Turns with the new patch and at this points it is much faster than before.

my campaign turns gone from 2-3mins late game, to under a minute... I don't even have time to do anything else other than the game...
for me patch 2 is a big step forwards, maybe in a few months we'll play the final version of this beta...

Ever since, I was never 100% an admirer of CA--they are, after all, a commercial company whose primary aim is profits, while we gamers have as our primary aim good gameplays and satisfactorily enjoy what we play. That's why the need for patches, and modders do the work of improving the game while CA rakes in all the profits for their apparently unfinished products. But I say, give them a break--after all, without CA giving (nah--selling!) us Rome 2 we would never enjoy a game like this at all. Hawooh.

    Better IA in campaing map!

Not sure If I have better fps on battle, the campaing performances were already good. Surely I have no longer ugly terrain textures (playing textures on ultra and all other stuff on very high) and the overall visual impact has improved a lot.

end turn times now are much much faster than before, but you have to start a new campaign in order to notice it... even at turn 120th, in less than 1 minute, my end turn is done

On i5 3570k oc to 4.2 GHz plus gygabite 7970 I can notice: CAMPAIGN MAPS: no massive lag; no centuries watching other factions. BATTLE MAPS: gpu still not completely used, lower framerate zooming on units (ultra size, extreme detail for units and buildings, very high/medium ssao on, depth high). With shogun 2 I can double unit size and have better performance. I expect better optimisation for a game tha tmy rig should manage like/better than previous one and not blast other guys with different modest rig (a broken promise for them..for us). BAI: this is what I would test in these first hours. Patch 2 released NOT yet Radious mod. CARTHAGO HISTORICAL BATTLE: one of the onagre despite of having full ammo dos not shot (permanent "sword" icon putting mouse on enemy). FLASH MOB approaching to melee sometimes happens again, rare but happens. SIEGE OF ATHENS: custom battle leading spartans (modded by KLA!) against athenienses. Proposal: test siege machines (wow, how many): attacking walls two of my Towers cannot approach, mouse icon don't show me this possibility. Try to make Towers closer and no, no way to approach walls on frontal side. DISAPPEARING ENEMIES: misteriously killed units Landing the walls by sides, cannot see anemies into the city (is this a vey hard level feature?). Ram machine, the majesti con seems not collide with walls. GENERAL IMPRESSION: seems now soldiers getting tired too fast! shogun 2 soldiers modded by radious seem better trained Hope this would help
