Whenever I'm feeling down...bored or just plain depressed about the daily drudgery of my mundane existence on this planet. I just open up the Rome II general discussion threads. And suddenly my life doesn't seem that bad!

My spirits are instantly lifted and my purpose in life feels renewed. I simply delight in reading of all the individual assnine mishap glitches and bugs w/ in the game. I roll around on the floor as I read of TW fans hopes and dreams being utterly crushed under the sheer weight of TWRII's failed mechanics and lack luster features. The promises made being stomped on and shattered by all those involved in the creative process of the game's inception.

It is very much like a train wreck. Some see it coming and in shock, gawk awkwardly awaiting an unavoidable disaster. Some are on the train and brace for the impact helpless now that they're buckled in & out 60+bucks for a ticket. Maybe more if they payed for that extra leg room (DLC). And after it happens...there are people like myself, who cant help but stare in awe of it's awesome display of tragedy.

But seriously though...it's really a comedy. The amount of money spent on the creation of the game. The boasting by developers. The inaccurate amount of "data" the CA team has collected. It's poor releases of patches to fix the problems. Its problems on release as well for that matter. I'm sorry. There is NO EXCUSE acceptable for someone paying over 60 dollars for something that doesn't even work properly. I mean...the list really goes on and on.

Although all of this is funny to me. It is also sad too. Mostly because I remember the days when I go into a store, buy a hard copy of a game, and it is complete and working! I was never sold a game in pieces, just sequels. Now we are forced to buy half working POS, and sold the rest of the pieces that are broken off, and expect to what....be satisfied with something that has never worked.

I could go on....but why....everything in this site speaks for itself for the quality, integrity, and reputation of the product and those who have made it is in question/jeopardy. The only redemption would be to have a version of the game released sometime soon that will be nearly flawless to the original release. Those responsible have their work cut-out for them. The fans deserve better.

There is nothing which gives you an immersive feel to Rome 2 and mods won't be able to change anything. I hate the character system. Generals come and go, I hardly even care if I lose a general as there seems always to be some guy ready to replace him. The battles are terrible. I am only able to play with macedon, as the only units which give me some satisfaction on the field are the phalangites. The AI seems more useless or sometimes non existant, especially in siege battles with walls. Whats the point in the AI attacking you if all they are going to do is wait outside the walls wasting my time. The interface is terrible, and I can't grasp how after shogun 2, probably the best vanilla TW, we end up with this... It is like they removed all the detailed features from the previous games and came up with this.

Hope the EB team won't take Rome 2 as discouragement on working on their mod.

I'm actually kinda amazed about the disappointment on Rome II, since I have followed the development of Rome 2 since it's annoument and the signs are prett clear that it's gonna be really bad.
The sign of a good development could be seen miles away from the way they described features; which is non-existance, all they do is repeating about how good the "system" is and show us pretty, scripted scenes which is really a bad sign instead of explaining how new systems worked or how things gonna change compare to other Total War games, etc.
Closest examples could be used to compare is the development process of EU IV, League of Legends, Grim Dawn or Wasteland 2, which explained so much details that guaranteed that when people bought the game, they get what they saw.
CA and Sega basically treat the process of communicating with customers as a "new" marketing strategy to draw more customers instead of actually commit to talk with players to get feedbacks, gather data and improve the development process.
You guys can try to track back the release progress of modding tools for Shogun 2: they invited modders, created so much hypes among players, promised so much possibilities and when released ... they let the modding "tools" float like a carcass with so many excuses to not supporting the modding community further (try to compare it with games which released the modding tool such as NWN, M&B or FO 3) The result? Take a look at twcenter Shogun 2 modding sub-forums, there were so little progress at anything ...

I knew Rome 2 (I can see into the future XD) was going to suck so I cancelled my pre order before it was too late and bought myself Shogun 2.

I don't get why people think the game has more complexity compared to some other TWs. That army limit system can be done in NTW with this manpower limit function through mods. The province system is not complex at all, it's a half done piece of crap.

I can go on but lets just say I await EB2.

Smart move, now if only S2 had good mods.

Its not a bad game, if it was your first taste of TW, then it would be an awesome game. I like the sea battles and the garrisons.
