Icon3 Understanding the armed citizenry tables?

Two tables define what defends where, and how many, namely armed_citizenry_units_to_unit_groups_junctions and building_level_armed_citizenry_junctions. I've tried to edit these files and make sure the ID is unique trying anything from 9700 to as high as 32000 but the game just crashes when starting. Anyone successfully understood how these work? In Shogun II it was a lot simpler.

Agree it was much simplier, these milion minor_city types of buildings making it totally messy. I made few changes, no crash but results were weird, since what i add/changed wasnt there completely, but only something and i didnt found the limits/way it works actually.

Yeah, though please share what you've found so far. The whole citizenry system begs for an upgrade, so anyone that's more familiar than me and Radious please chip in.

Are you trying to add another garrison type? You'll need to add it to armed_citizenry_unit_groups as well.

So far I've not noticed any weirdness nor crashing.

I'm using one of the existing groups though.

Try using an ID between the values that are already used on that building, I've added quite a few units including double the number of naval garrisons for all ports that way and no crashes. I wanted to up the garrisons of all the the buildings but yeah the whole "99 city types on the wall, 99 city types!" thing scared me.

One thing though, what does that 'Priority' value do in armed_citizenry_units_to_unit_groups_junctions; how does it work, does anyone know for sure?

Well its totaly weird table. From some reason in tables are much more units added to cities/buildings then are actually in the game even on full maxed city. Some deep explanations how to change/add/remove these things wold be very nice, cause i must admit, i am lost in that mess :-)

Yeah. Why couldn't they just keep it simple like in STW2, it really could just be applied the same way. Ahwell, guess we'll have to wait until we either get a bright idea ourselves or someone else figure it out.
