Anybody else trying to mod the UI?

Has anybody had any luck changing the UI?
I've been trying to modify the files in data.pack ui>skins>default
I was mostly interested in these files: black_corner_128, black_gradient_128, fe_frame, unit_card_frame, unit_card_frame_red & unit_card_frame_white.

But whatever modifications on these I make causes the game to crash, either on startup (black_corner_128, black_gradient_128 & fe_frame) or when loading up a new campaign (unit_card_frame, unit_card_frame_red & unit_card_frame_white).

I make sure that everything's in the correct formats, sizes and in the correct directory, but still no success.

Anybody have any idea on how to mod these files?

i have the same problem with faction-icons - but nobody can help me at this time....
