Default CTD at campaign map after about 10 seconds

I'm pretty deep into a Roman campaign and during summer of 577 A.U.C. I ctd after about 10 seconds with or without clicking on anything although selecting a settlement or army seems to accelerate the crash. I'm not sure what I did to cause this or if it was something I did at all but everything was fine with this entire campaign until this crash. I'm deep into this campaign and don't want to give up this far into it. Please help me.

    -OS is Windows 7 64bit

    -RTW 1.5

    - no steam

    - install path is C:/RS2 (not program files)

    - launcher option is RTW.exe and Rome

    - AMD FX-8150 Eight Core processor 3.60 GHz, 8.00 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB single card

    -Video options are:

    Anti aliasing off
    Unit detail high
vegetation medium (launcher vegetation is low)
    Unit Shaders on

-I would post pictures but unfortunately the game crashes quicker than I take a screen shot, I can however post the crash description from windows:

I'm having the exact same problem (see my save game file here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-rears-it-head).

I downloaded your save game and was able to play for about 5 more turns until I got some weird error I haven't gotten before (see pics). What is interesting is that initially I used the regular RomeTW and I had the same problem as you... game crashed after a few seconds. But then I used the program that cannot be spoken of to increase my usable RAM and was able to play without a hitch until getting that other weird crash.

I'm thinking that it likely is an issue with a missed script activation at some point. I have this sneaking feeling that in my own game I forgot to activate the script maybe one and now bad things are happening. Increasing the RAM utilization seems to helps for a while but it just puts of the problem until later in the game. It seems that whatever occurs when you don't activate the script, it will eventually throw the game into a infinite loop or some memory leak that causes it to crash.

if there had to be one golden rule for total war mods ...for me it is......ALWAYS ACTIVATE THE SCRIPT ....it is very very very very very important to a happy crash free campaign

What is interesting is that this happens much later in the game but *ONLY* occurs when you load a saved game. In my campaign I'm pretty sure that I may have forgotten to activate the script very early in the game, but was able to play 100+ turns without any problems. The one turn I decided to save and quit and suddenly I couldn't load the game without it crashing. I tested it by replaying from a backup save past the date where the crash occured and there were no problems. But again right when I saved and quit, the game would crash upon loading the save.

I'm going to sit down for a longer session on of these games with my backup save that works and play for enough turns without quitting the game and see if it doesn't affect the save game file stability.
