Default How can i increase archers shooting distance??

How can i increase archers shooting distance?? i know how to increase troups but cant figure out how to increase arrow distance. it makes no sence slingers and archers to have same distance...
It is really bad that Romans dont have archers plus when in siege your defending archers are crap...
plus a good addition would had been to be able to learn from other nations and be able to copy\train their units!!

romans have the biggest unit roster out of all the factions. make sure you have built the right military buildings first. I think they got like 5 to 7 range units.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

There have been other threads discussing how the archers perform compared to slingers.

Basically, in the time-frae of this game slingers did have better range than standard archers. I believe this is due to compostite bow not being used.

I have read that Cretian Archers have similar range to slingers. I presume some Eastern factions may also have similar range.

So, basically, it's realistic - use slingers rather than archers. Also use light javelin skirmishers - they can be very effective.

I have to slightly correct this.

Composite bow was widely used from Crete throughout former Achamenid empire and eastern european/asian steppes. It wasn't that much used in west, because its construction is sensitive to humidity. There, selfbows (constructed from one piece of wood) were used, and they couldn't match the performance of slings. But eastern composite bow, the type used by Cretan, Persian and other eastern archers could match the range of best slingers. Later on, new improvements to composite bow spread, and these could outrange any sling used in Europe. AFAIK during early Empire, archer auxilla regiments, commonly originated from Syria and Persia, used these types of bows, so they should be somewhere at the end of tech tree in game, and only for some nations.

If you read my post I stated that the bows from Crete and some Eastern factions could have a similar range to slingers. In fact all you've done is to agree (or give osme backing) with what I posted so there was no real need to 'slightly correct this'.

You need to increase the range of the bows in projectiles, messing around I changed 'whistle arrows' (the AI don't use them ever) to 500 range and 500 dmg and the archers can shoot 1/4 of the map length and 1 shot everything xD
So be the same for normal and fire arrows just change there range to double what they are now (around 130 default iirc) if you want archers to be more powerfull V slingers etc
