are the campaigns worth playing right now?

Just wondering is it even worth playing any campaigns right now. Both my Rome and Sparta campaigns crash so I can't play them. each time a patch comes out the saves aren't compatible soooooooo why should I start a campaign I know I won't get to finish? anyone else feel this way?

I just finished a four day long marathon & it worked perfectly for me (Lucky!!)That said, have you tried checking your specs? There's the chance that the game will lag even on high spec, but at least it won't lag. If nothing works, try re-installing the thing or updating. The one good thing about Steam is that the danger of 'losing' a game is much reduced.

Not everyone is having this problem.

I'd had CTDs during the end-turn (and the annoying 'freeze on the diplomatic screen') and each time I've managed to continue from the save. Witht he problem with the freezing I now manaually save before opening the dipomatic screen.

I've played a Macedon campaign to 68AD and a Roman one to about 20BC - along with various other campaigns (Athens, Parthia, Sparta, Averni and Suebo(?)).

I've been playing campaigns across patches as well - in that I've yet to abandon a campaign due to it not being able to be continue.

As Chromium has posted - check your PC specs and maybe do some housekeeping.

After installing the patch 2 beta and starting a new campaign, yes it is definitely worth it.

Edit: Forgot to mention it is compatible with previous campaigns.

I can't bring myself to start a second campaign.... Just can't bear not having leaders, and successors you can nuture. Along with the civil war scenario is just lazy on CA's part. Much prefered Each house as seperate forces within rome, which is how it should be. inmo... The succession of patches to come gives stock also, not play campaign..
