So Patch 2 is officially here, and I think it's time for some feedback to CA. Feel free to add your thoughts.
For me, the following:
- Optimization of Campaign Map Performance, especially when clicking on something that shows a 3D portrait (army, agent, even a city). Right now, when I start a new Rome Campaign, I get around 45 fps which drops quickly as I expand across the map down to 20 or so. That's me not doing anything. When I click on an agent or army/fleet, I get 21 fps if lucky and later in the late campaign, I get 12.
This STILL hasn't been addressed. A sliver of increase on fps with this patch doesn't fix that fundamental problem of fps dropping to slide show levels when performing certain actions like 'gasp' clicking on an army or agent.
If the ugly 3D portrait is the problem, either give us an option to make its appearance optional or optimize it so it doesn't cripple the fps for the campaign map.
- Optimization of the Campaign Map Performance as you expand across the map later in the campaign, and gross increase in turn time wait. Right now, these two things make the game lose at least 30fps over time in my experience, going from 45 to 15 with only 10 provinces.
- If there are any plans to bring back agent mission videos and more event/immersion cinematic videos, that would also be greatly appreciated.
- Battles are still too quick - either up the armor, rebalance, or do something but right now it's incredibly fast. Ships sink too fast. Men die quicker than you can throw pila at them.
- Give pila/javelin equipped melee infantry a chance to conduct "fire at will".
- Shield mechanics should be changed to much better reflect how it benefits its user rather than just give bonus to armor and melee defense: This right now makes testudo useless.
-Testudo should be properly implemented. Right now it's half-done: HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS WORSE FROM ROME 1?
- Not sure if this is a warscape engine problem, but right now horse archers and all missile units have to shift their who formation to put targets 'back in arc'. This is relevant in firearms age, but what we have right now is vastly inferior to systems used back in Rome 1 and MTW2. This neuters archers and missile units.
- OPTIMIZATION OF CAMPAIGN MAP PERFORMANCE
