I'm not sure if this 100% possible but if so sweet.
reason:
When you have a unit go into a defensive stance with their shield such as raising it when arrows or rocks are coming in, your character is protecting himself from those projectiles. ATM though in this game, when you use a shield, it adds more armor overall which wittles down from being hit, It is not a separate collision model that effects whether or not it should damage. So far the chance to have an armor penetrating shot from a stone is 100%. It does 3 damage and say your defender has 30 armor, it only takes 10 hits (if what i understand is correct) to kill the unit, no matter if it is only hitting the shield. What i would like is for the weapon to have a lesser than 100% chance to penetrate the armor to give the effect that is actually deflecting the blow.
Possible way to fix:
-Go through each weapon and change the AP pen chance to a number to make them "bounce" off the units, but to keep it a realistic % for that weapon. So a rock would have a 3% chance of penetrating and damaging the person holding that shield, while an arrow has a 30% chance of penetrating the shield and doing damage. Then you get into melee and The penetrating change translates into chance of the blow hitting the shield of the person. So a Mobs dagger has a 20% chance of doing damage while the Spear has a 60% chance.
I'm just throwing numbers out there, but if it is possible to do even something close to this to make it where after the 10th rock hits a shield he doesn't automatically die, that would be awesome =)
