Default How to build "training camps"? [Sparta]

    Hey guys,

with my current and first campaign, playings as Sparta I have a problem concerning a specific building: the "training camp" (or something like this, I don't know the exact translation, but in German its "Ausbildungsfeld").
Its the base building which enables upgrade to "horse stables" and "archery range" for example. I destroyed a building in a city to build it, but my only options are the "workshop" and the "muster field (?)". Does anyone know where and how I can build it?

I think you have to build it in the capital of a province, in case you haven't figured that out already.

I tried building it in a capital (Pella) already :/

You can only build training camps in province capitals, it also requires a certain tech. I think it is the first one in the second military tree.

It has to be built in provincial capitals, not sure why Pella didn't work for you, because it works for me. I know its a dumb suggestion but did you check if it's researched? Cause I did that once.

I found it doesn't make that much of a difference though; I had 2 training camps in Athens, both focused on infantry attack/defence, and 2 camps in Pella, focused on missile/cavalry. Then in Thrace I had 3 workshops, 1 for siege, 1 for shields/armor and 1 for weapons. By the time I hit late game (140 BC) with everything level 3/4 I had a super soldier army. But it was only perhaps 25% more effective then a regular army of non-upgraded spartans.

And it took AGES to research/build everything. However, the morale for my men were like 170 each unit or something; thanks to a level 4 ares temple and leonidas monument in Sparta too. So they NEVER retreat, NEVER surrender. But by that time I found with patch 2 the enemy figures out how to build scorpions and ballistas, which kinda makes my whole super-soldier-training-program moot with one well aimed shot in the middle of my ranks.

Indeed, province captials only. The building chain starts with "training fields" (Ausbildungsfeld) which looks very similar to the first building in the barracks chain (Musterungsfeld), so dont confuse the two. Once you have the training field you can upgrade it to any specific unit-training center you researched.

Correction btw, I just started a new game just to test the difference between a super-soldier army with these upgrades and a normal army. It's errr, immense - note the passive bonuses that also come with the tech. Everything adds up...

I even named an army "300" with upgraded troops; 1 royal spartan, 2 heroes of sparta (120 + 90 + 90 = 300 on large unit scale lol), and they are currently going around annexing garrisons of 1000-2000 troops. Bloody invincible now.
