The Steam Store pictures will look very familiar to us on here I'm sure. They are mostly images that are not actually in the game, they are preview pictures with better graphics and cinematics not in the game. They need to be changed now.

Haha. Your computer can't duplicate the graphics they used to take those screenshots, so it is false advertising?

No it is not. What you have said is idocy.
Another symbol of the state of our society today.
Someone points out false advertising (which is true) and gets jumped by people who want to stick their heads in the sand and see that nothing is wrong.
It`s people with that kind of attitude that allowed far serious bad things to go by in the world.
I hope watchful people will continue to point out when something is wrong because when absolutely nobody does then we`re all in BIG trouble.
Advertising is advertising- it usually is depending on small lies and half-truths. But size of capital cities (like Carthage) is hardly a small lie. Seriously- when I decided to besiege Carthage and finally got on the battlefield, I was sure that I've besieged wrong city- instead of huge sprawling city, I've stormed and conquered (in some 10 minutes) small fishing village.
Why do you keep believing in what the PR-people say, then? It is their job to feed you a lot of. Nothing new there, except that now your expectations make you feel sorry for yourself.
If you never played a total war game, I could understand your frustration, but if you have experienced the launch of earlier titles in the series, you would have no illusions.
I can only talk for myself, but I didn't listen to the hype, and as a result, when I loaded the broken game I didn't think the world had gone under, rather I smiled to my self and thought: Business as usual.
The only question to me is how long it will take CA to get this mess fixed. I am playing the beta patch 2 now, and it has fixed a lot of issues. There is still a long way to go, but we are slowly getting there. Rome 2 may end up as one of the best in the series, just like the broken-at-launch ETW.

Nope, that. Nappy and shogun 2 releases were good (You could actually play them!). There was no indication that Rome 2 would be such a
ing mess on launch day, the fluffed up reviews did not help either.

Anything shown in pre-alpha is not an "Advertisement" so much as it is as representation of what the product could, possibly, be. (There is even a disclaimer.)

A discussion of Steam and the pictures it uses in advertising is not relevant to the discussion of the game itself.
