Default Republic or Empire, what's the difference? none on mine

Long story short I shut down the civil war and chose Empire yet nothing seems to have changed. When I look in my faction info it still says I have 79% senators and power. Soooooo what exactly changes. This is a while after too not just one turn.

You won't have to care about internal political anymore is what make the difference
Click on generals and statesmen you won't see any option for politics if you keep the republic there will be another civil war waiting for you later on
Empire II and Medieval III pls

There is no real difference. In the same way confederations are really just conquering a settlement without the conquering: you still end up owning it.

Well, Empire and Republic have different bonuses. With an Empire you get reduced armies upkeep and corruption. That's about it.
