I think i need some help. i create a new unit and i will use my own variantmesh for this unit. All works really fine - but the unit is invisible in battle. i can only see the officer, the solders are transparent...
in unit_variants i use my own variant and the name of the varianmeshdefinition ist the same like the variant in unit_variants
What is wrong with my work?

Hi all and thanks blackheartz for a very informative guide. I did what it said as well as I could but somewhere something must be wrong. I have most variantmeshdefinitions ready for a Seleucid Extension mod, but can't get the mod to work, it freezes at startup.
I have edited other mods for while with pfm, but when trying to make my own with new custom units, Im cut short. Would anyone be kind enough to take a look at my mod and decipher the error? I can send it by pm? its only one unit, using a vanilla model and named is named Gre_Chrysaspides_Pike, available only for Seleucids.

Hey, sorry I did not respond to you earlier, I do not have much free time theses days. So, I checked the file you uploaded. The problem seems to be that you had 4 blank rows in building_units_allowed. Also this table was not minimized but that is more of an optimisation thing. Note: The games runs fine now and the unit appears in the Seleucid roster on the custom battle menu. I have not checked it further.

Hello and thank you for the work of making a guide... I still cannot get my mod to work.I want to add a pikemen for the eastern factions, but the game freezes on startup. The mod is very small and I hope someone could help me out.

I can't seem to get the loc file (unit names/descriptions) part of my mod to work. I take it the vanilla loc is still overriding the modded loc file? Any one know how I can make my modded loc to work?
Ah i figured it out - needed to alter a few things in the land units table.
Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong with this one? It gives me a CTD when I select the pack on Mod Manager.

Hello guys, I have taken a look in your packs. So lets see:
This pack is a mess. It has many redundant db tables. Moreover in buildings_units_allowed there are many entries with no unique keys which is probably the reason for the crash.
The tables are not minimized and there was an empty line in buildings_units_allowed. Also there seemed to be some problem with your variantmeshes as they appeared red in my PFM.
The db tables are not renamed and that causes the crash. Also you have deleted all the entries in the text land_units and not renamed it so no units exist in the game.
There might be other things wrong too, I did not check the packs line by line. Be patient and have fun modding!!

I've been working on a Syracuse mod for the last few days but I'm kind of stumped on what to do for the units. I have a list of units from other factions that I want them to have (and can alter later if need be) but because they aren't a major faction, I'm not even sure which building chain they use exactly. If they share the building chain of, say, Athens, I wouldn't want Athens to be able to train all the units too. I'm beginning to think it may be easier to create a whole new building chain for Syracuse, which would be such a pain haha.
Thanks for the instructions. I've never modded anything before so this took me a few hours to figure out. It was worth it though. Carthage can now recruit Balearic Slingers. There is so much I'd like to change/add to the Carthaginian faction. Now to figure out how to change Faction leader names and stats.
I made a new .pack only with my new unit, it works but the name of the unit doesn't show up.
