Trading Feels Cheap
I was a big fan of the trading nodes. Once you got a certain trading node and the CPUs building requirements got rolling, they definitely wanted to come to you for trading so they could build certain things. I loved that part of the game. It made trading and building feel alive.
Rome II's trading feels very generic. Unless you send a ship to discover new factions early in the game, it gets really hard to establish trading relations with other factions. Late in the game they ask for insane amounts of cash just to trade. I don't feel like any trading resources are a requirement for better anything. I could be wrong though. It just isn't as fun as it use to be.
Anyone else feel like this? I can only hope that this game was dumbed down with the intentions of releasing DLCs to expand on everything Shogun 2 did so well in. If that was the case, they should have informed the public so there wouldn't have been such an uproar.

Re: Trading Feels Cheap
U can test it if u like. Start a campaign with Rome as example;
- Press end turn 10 times without doing or building anything. By the time they ask for trade they ask for huge amounts.
Start another campaign;
- Press end turn 10 times but this time spend all your money, doesn't matter what u spend it on. By the time they ask for trade, they will be asking for 100-300 denari per agreement.
I'm sure u'll notice the pattern. Whether this is intended or not i do not know of course.

Re: Trading Feels Cheap
There's been some definite changes to trading in Rome 2, and I think some of it is that the AI will note if you stockpile money a lot, and will want that stockpile. If you can consistently empty your treasury every turn, they won't seek our your money generally. They also weigh the actual amount of goods you have more heavily, and will typically not trade with you at all if you aren't producing goods. Still, trade is not the bulk of your income anymore like Shogun 2, so it's not as bad for it being difficult.

Can't you just counter the offer?
