Default Holy mother of mercy! Civil War on Legendary!!

Sweet jesus! A fair while into my campaign on legendary, and civil war erupts. 3 armies would have been a challenge, with most of my legions spread in Spain and Africa, but 8!!!?? With elephants to boot, and only a single legion in Italy to hold back the hoard!!

Now, I don't mind this per say (I'm looking forward to the challenge), but I would of liked a bit of warning. I think there should be a message saying "civil war imminent: even the balance of power or prepare for war!". I was silly enough to assume I would get such a message. My problem with this is that I actually wanted to remain a republic. However, without doing anything, my reputation kept on rising, and evening the balance of power cost insane amounts of money! I payed a couple of 10,000 marriages to try and address the balance, but it did little to raise the other families' reputation.

So, a warning to all the future emperors out there: once your reputation gets to around 70%, start making armies at your capital; you're in for a bumpy ride.

I'll update this as the turmoil unfolds.

I'd say you would be able to take care of that force with 2 stacks of men, considering how the BAI plays.

22 army stacks just spawned out of no where, while the vanilla army cap for the player is 15, ca is funny in a way. here is some tips for you guys. divide and conquer. you will never win fights if they stay together. wait for the stacks to spread out first, to conquer your settlements and fall on them with your army stacks they contain elite units, so that is the only way. even if the ai send them at you in a blob of units they will still kill half your army = the reinforcing army will finish your off. the # of stacks being spawned is tied directly to how many settlements we have under our control?

I had 10 stacks spawn and i let them only take one city, however this was before the new patch which might make them more aggressive now. It was pretty simple, i just doubled timed 5 armies back to the area and took them out. Love forced march, it is a great idea.

Craziii: That only happens when you mess with the army limit, since that directly affects how many stacks the civil war can spawn. Radious even put a disclaimer about that in his mod.

if that is the case, than 20+ stacks is fine as I would also have 20+ stacks waiting

I just managed to win my civil war as Pontus on legendary. I got about 10 stacks in my capital.

It was quite a tough fight, and I have to say the best tactics is really sacrifice some settlements and let the rebels spread out so you can destroy them one by one. However, you need to be careful and even pick a desperate battle. Because, if you sacrifice too many settlements, you might actually end up losing too much food and become unable to sustain your armies.

Having won the civil war, I'm actually a bit disappointed: I had hoped to be offered some options like "kill the rebel families and found an empire" or "pardon the rebel families and stay a regular kingdom" or whatever...
