Because I feel subjugating a faction seems to be a very lackluster option.

Short of having a more reliable meatshield vs enemies, there seems to be no benefits.
They give me no tributes(from what I can tell). They won't even trade with me most of the time!

Now, I know there are limits to what you can ask of your minions and expect them to obey. But I would really have expected them to trade with me at least, it's not like I'm asking them to fall on their swords!

They should be far more obedient. Also any wars they have with your allies should be cancelled. I keep having to deal with two of my vassals being at war with each other. I had a campaign in which me as Rome and Athens were allied and at war with Epirus, I captured Apollonia and Subjugated Epirus only for Athens to just wipe them out. That makes no sense. They shouldn't be able to declare war either.

You should be able to annex them. All of them.

Carthage starting position is so annoying because of it right now. You must betray your client states in order to gain full control of any nearby province. I can barely imagine how annoying the Seleucid faction will be unless a huge client states overhaul is released with the faction.

It's even worse, I had two of my client states fight each other, and one got destroyed, so I lost some imperium points >_>. I thought they'd like.. go to peace if they're my clients.

I expect client state mechanics to have fixes / improvements with the seleucid DLC. (next month was it ??)

We need to be able annex them and GIFT them regions, if CA was to add those two features it would be a huge improvement to the empty shell we currently have.

The biggest gripe I have with client states atm is that Carthage is way too weak atm. They need to get more regions from the start with which they can complete provinces, plus their unit roster needs some work.

The whole client state process needs to be reworked.

If a client states owns one region in a province and your faction owns all the rest then that province should be counted under the total provinces owned category.

Trade should also be automatic and not something you have to pay 50% of your funds to get if you forget to set it up when they become a client.

I just don't see a lot of benefit to having them right now.

Maybe it's intended? I just played Pathia, and created several satraps, and I noticed that they go to war with whomever I go to war with, and when I make peace, they make peace. Perhaps client state is more... independent and simply have a deal with you for your support or something, but then they should have diplomatic options to ask them to make peace with and such...

The worst thing is that your client states can make independent alliances with other factions. This means that if you go to war with one of your client states' military allies, your client state will declare war on you too. That's why I never create client states until very late game.

They act like defensive alliance not millitary alliance as satraps ( they will only at war with your enemy when you are the one that was attacked), and if you raise 1 faction from their last settlement, they still hate you and will betray you, not the one that volunteer to become your client state.

Diplomacy in R2TW is quite a mess, especially with the power balance bug when you process to negotiate with one faction. No matter how strong you are in the diplomacy screen, in the faction diplomacy screen, it still 50/50 so even if they have only 1 army/settlement left they still not join your confederation or become your client state/satrap. That makes making meatshield much harder. If you raise 1 from death, they will betray ( not like shogun 2 where they will obey you ), if you push them to the corner, they will not accept to surrender.

Also, it would be nice to be able to Liberate factions like we could in Napoleon and (presumably) Shogun 2 (I don't know I haven't played it)

They do need adjusted, at least from a economy stand point. They more or less go bankrupt repeatedly, until finally getting taken out by rebels.
