KLAssurbanipal's ROME 2 units packs - general discussion
Hello! I present to you my newest work - KLA's 'Legacy of Alexander' Hellenistic Skinpack. It is a comprehensive reskin of Hellenistic units. I have worked a long time. I did most of all units more historic and far more diverse than the basic game. You will find here lots of new helmets and armor. It's a good mod for supporters of diversity.
I have worked on the basis of historical sources. This mod changes the appearance of many elite units of few factions such as the Seleucids, Macedon, Ptolemaic Egypt, Pont and other Hellenistic.
Mod is not the final version - I will go to-date complete, improve and increase the number of units.

I would like to thank to people like Agent2P, Octavian21, Zaskar70, Little Legionaire for a great contact during the formation of my mod.
KLA's 'Gold Pack 1.0' is a full pack of my Roman, Celtic and Hellenistic units skins.
There are my 3 skinpacks in the one pack. In addition, there are more completely new reskinned units.
(LoA + SoM + Celts + new units!)
I have worked on the basis of historical sources.
You will find here lots of new helmets, shields, clothes and armors. It's a good mod for supporters of diversity.

Hello! I present to you my newest work - KLA 's 'Sons of Mars' Roman Skinpack. It is a comprehensive reskin of Roman units.
I have worked a long time. I did most of all units more historic and far more diverse than the base game. You will find here lots of new helmets and armor. It's a good mod for supporters of diversity.
I have worked on the basis of historical sources. This mod changes the appearance of Roman units: from the days of the Republic, after the reforms of Marius and the early Empire.
I would add that this is the first mod that gives a greater variety of colors tunics than 3 variants. Republican units have up to 6-7 different colored tunics. Marian and Imperial units are more uniformed.
It is also the first mod that gives the Imperial Roman legionaries and pretorians shield inside the same color as the outside. There is no longer bare boards as in the base game.
Below is a detailed presentation of units and changes.
I will go to-date complete, improve and increase the number of units.

UNITS
I. POLYBIAN ROMANS
Units from this period in my mod are characterized by diversity.
There wasn't uniformity, which occurred in the first century BC
Therefore, units wear colorful tunics and colorful shields. I inspired by master Peter Connolly, who painted the Polybian Romans in various color clothes.
I changed many elements to a more historical, such as changing armor Hastati by adding them "circles" and delete the muscular armor designed for the elite.
I also added more armor and helmets. It is interesting that Equites have olive wreaths on their helmets.

II. MARIAN ROMANS
Here we have uniformity. However, the unit of the period in the base game are virtually identical.
I introduced here diversity.
Standard legionaries wear helmets Montefortino and Coolus.
Veterans who fought in Gaul wear Celtic helmets, which later evolves the Imperial Gallic helmet. Here I've added my own helmets.
Units of the first cohort, the elite wear helmets in the Hellenistic style.
Thus, each unit seemingly identical in the basic version of Rome 2, in my mod did different from each other. Even so faithfully I kept to historical sources.

III. IMPERIAL ROMANS
Imperial Romans are most types of units.
I used colors that distinguish the individual forces, for example - red for standard legionaries, blue for veterans, purple for Praetorians, and green for the Auxilia (completely new patterns).
Also helped me works of Peter Connolly.
Units in the basic game were very similar to each other. Infantry wore only 3 types of helmets (Coolus, Italic and Gallic). I have given them much more variants.
Armor in the CA's version is only lorica hamata (chain mail) and lorica segmentata (segmented armor). I have given a lot of options squamosals armor (lorica squamata).
Imperial Roman legionaries and pretorians got shields inside the same color as the outside.
Imperial cavalry got red trousers.
I decided to experiment a bit, so armored legionaries wear conical helmets from Syria. There is a historical source confirming such this element.

Re: KLA's new IMPERIAL ROMANS skinpack (Armored legionaries and Legionary Cohort added)
Love to see this as an Eastern AOR Roman variant.
Would you perhaps be able to make a Batavian Cohort style of Western AOR where the legionairies wear a scarf like the suebi have or some kind of out garment to show both cold protection and long campaigning

also, in terms of the centurion, since this game doesn't cover a time period when the lateral plume was standardised, it would be good to see the vanilla one stay in some units, and change to lateral for others. Perhaps armoured vs standard legionaires

or CA could have given us the centurions we all know and love. its obvious they dont give a squat about historical accuracy, that should be obvious by looking at their spartans
Re: KLA's new IMPERIAL ROMANS skinpack (Armored legionaries and Legionary Cohort added)
Neat, thanks for doing this. I was just trying to figure out how exactly to do that, but was having trouble. I was also trying to get the auxiliary infantry to use the mix of coolus, gallic, and italic helmets based on this picture, http://i.imgur.com/lBHLnfu.jpg but I'm not getting any luck on getting it working, was wondering if you would like to do that with your mod?
Re: KLA's new IMPERIAL ROMANS skinpack (Armored legionaries and Legionary Cohort added)
Hi,
Thank you friends for your opinions and suggestions. My skinpack will be bigger and it will be completely more historical if it will be possible.
So, please write your suggestions. To next week I will plan to change 90% of Roman units. I have few thousends pictures and photos. I am waiting for your more proposals.
Yes, I added only officer with Corinthian helmet, beacause I afraid that only 1% will download it if I will delete all Corinthian helmets.
Of course, historical unit is my priority.
I have suprise. Today will be new better skinpack.
Re: KLA's new IMPERIAL ROMANS skinpack (Armored legionaries and Legionary Cohort added)
This is great, I was disappointed at the uniformity of the armoured legionaries and the absence of squamata.
As said before, it would be nice to see some proper auxilia! They are all uniformed in the vanilla! Imperial italic and gallic helms should be worn by the auxilia too, and I'd like to see some squamata there too, personally.
Also,
It would be nice to see somebody re-do the Italian soccii wearing a variation of hellenic and italic armour! I can't really find a good artistic representation of what I mean, but a model company I know does a series of very impressive italian allies which are suitable for the period (and WAY better looking than the vanilla units):
I've been trying to do this myself with the Etruscan units and the Roman soccii (who don't look etruscan at all, they look like samnites!), but I'm no good at modding really. All the equipment needed is in the game already. It would be nice to see the allies wearing italo corinthian, negau, montefortino and masked Phrygian helmets.
Essentially, a more hellenistic-looking Illyrian Hoplite unit, with republican Roman scutums.
For the soccii hastati body-armour, there could be a mix of tunics, pectorals and the padded linothorax (found in the Illyrian hoplite unit), and for the soccii extra-ordinarii, we could see more hamata and bronze cuirasses, maybe some hoplon shields.
