Ok, so I have been reading the forum steady and was getting used to seeing lots of hate and wondering why as I bought a hard copy and was patiently waiting for it to come in the mail. It did, so I have had the game for 2 days now and frustrations abound.... And now I understand what all the freaking out is about....I was playing as Rome. Took Lilybaeum. Moved my stack over to Karalis to take it. A carthaginian elephant general comes from so far away in Africa, it appears he's on a forced march(however I thought you couldn't attack on a forced march). Attacks Lilybaeum and the one unit is enough to defeat the entire garrison. Of course, he attacks from the sea, unloads off a ship but there are no elephants present even though it says he is an elephant general. Runs away from the city and stands in spot for no reason. I didn't feel like running out the clock because fast forward doesn't seem to function. So I attack. Javelins kill half the unit. They throw Javelins at me. Intermittently some of the men float 15 feet in the air as if there is a phantom elephant below them. It's bizarre. He routs my last unit, I lose.Couple turns later. I have retaken Lilybaeum and move my stack to Carthago. I take Carthago. A Lybyan fleet attacks Lilybaeum. They disembark and being 20 units strong they are also enough to kill the entire garrison. Why the hell can't I leave extra garrison units behind??!!Now a fleet can conquer a coastal village without having an army present. Dumbest feature ever!!! This should be like S2TW where you can bombard from a fleet but not disembark your rowers. You should have to have your troops board ships, then if you are attacking from the sea, your army disembarks and fights, not your rowers. This is so fake!! Most ships in this time period were for ramming, not many did hand to hand combat and I'm quite sure if they were assaulting a city they would have to do it in conjunction with a land army that would be transported on board..... The navy would not disembark, the army would!!! The ships would still be manned!!!Not to mention every general I have goes loony...Plus every other turn, an agent or a general is being wounded...I have no idea who my family members are, nor who is a part of their household. I cannot get into this game and enjoy it. It's not fun. Maybe if they fix the bugs, some battles will be enjoyable but for now??...The much hyped Political system means nothing for me. I have no idea what to do with it, and there is no explanation as to how to keep a just and fair republic or what turns it into a biased republic full of hate that starts a civil war.I suppose there are some good features like army recruitment rather than city recruitment, army stances, and cumulative public order. These appear to be good features but overall, this does not make up for the shortcomings described. There is no immersion in the game at all. I feel completely disconnected from it.And that is not mentioning the technical issues. I can't get any more than 15 FPS on medium, a slight improvement from 10 FPS on Ultra. S2TW worked perfectly, whats wrong with this game. And or course tonight R2TW decided to freeze at some random time during my turn. What happened to TW? I spent thousands of hours playing M1, R1, M2, plus mods. The series has turned into a giant ball of crap!I can't wait for EBII to come out.
