    Default PoorPforance and Graphics

Hello, I am not very technology savvy, so please be patient with me. My PC is almost three years old, and according to Rome Total War 2, has a Intel (R) G45/G43 Express Chipset graphic card. I am not sure what that means, but it certainly is not a high end graphics card. It also says I have 512 MB of video memory. The screen resolution is 1024x768. Simply I was wondering what I could do to increase the performance of the game without spending a lot of money. Will the patches eventually fix the lagging and the low fps (btw, I know what fps is, but I don't know how to measure the exact number during gameplay if that's possible)? Or am I doomed with a poor performance PC. If you need any other information about the computer or anything else, feel free to ask me, but you may have to explain where I am to find that info. Thanks for any help!

Hello again. jut learned how to test the fps for RTW2 and things are not looking good. The highest fps registered was 6, while the lowest was 2. I realize that some are complaining about having 10 to 20 fps, so I am slightly worried. Any help with my issue woud still be much appreciated.

Your graphics card with 512 vram is barely cutting the mustard and I don't know what your CPU is but im guessing its right on the low end of specs as well. Without making any further judgements I think we would need to see your pc specs.

If you're getting only fps in the one-digit range, no patch will improve it to be playable. The human eye usually processes at 24 fps, so anything at or above this level will appear smooth. Also, while 3 years is not particularly old for a pc, it seems to have been a somewhat cheap one, right? My six year old laptop has the same amount of vram. Also, what settings are you running the game on? Lowest? And what's your operating system? At any rate, you might have to invest some money to get it to an enjoyable level. Depending on where you live, you can get a useful board, processor and graphics card starting at around 350 €/$/£/whatever. If you choose to update the graphics card alone, about 150 bucks might do the trick. You can get basic information by clicking on the windows start button in the lower left, then system settings, then a setting called something like "performance overview" (my windows is in german so I don't know what it's in English).

Yep, it was pretty cheap, about 600$. Do you guys have recommendations on a computer that would be under 1000$ or around that number that would work with the game well and could be used for school work. I don't want a solely gaming computer, as that would not be what I would be using it most for. Thanks again.
