After playing around with the new Patch 2, I can say that CA has does a tremendous job bringing the game up to launch specs. Radious did a great job in the interim, considering he was one man, but this is the closest thing to a miracle patch I've seen in any game. They've improved it all, from the CAI/BAI, to the bug fixes, to the economy, and battle balance.

I just had a thirty minute coastal siege that put it all on display. It's amazing what you see when the game isn't broken. Advancing troops trampling fences, tents, and bazaars as they hop, scurry, and charge through them. Units will actually hold their ground and there have been some absolute blast custom battles.

While it may not be the end of the patching, Patch 2 has brought a broken title into the realm of where it should have been at launch. I advise you to restart your campaigns and begin again...and do not tarry, you're truly missing out. I'm having a blast!

Amen. They really did a good job with the patch. While it doesn't excuse the state the game was released in, they might redeem themselves yet. I'm loving it.

good to hear.. it looks like CA just really needed a week or two more.. I blame the publisher more than the developer.

I doubt it. As much as people resent being "beta testers", it's far more helpful to have a million people testing the game for a week than a hundred people testing for months.

If it wasn't released, most of the bugs and gameplay changes would not have been found or fixed by now.

Then give us a discount for having to help them build their game. We were sold something at a price based off a finished product. In reality, it is not. We are the beta-testers. When i bought arma 3, i bought it cheap because it was in its alpha stage and in order to get it cheaper i'd have to help with testing to get the game finished and deal with all the BS problems. That's how it works. CA cut their costs though by pushing that on to their customer. I mean come on man, we've been bamboozled! Don't try and sugar coat it! Some of you people that are making these comments...it's the reasons large companies walk all over their customers. You need to stand up and expect better or you're gonna keep getting on by "The Man".

Then maybe you should do some homework before buying games blindly? If CA wants to release the worst game in the world, it is within their right. It is also within your right to spend your money wisely. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy. Stop being ridiculous and blame "The Man" for your poor decisions.

You bought the game knowing full well that there would be subsequent updates and changes. This isn't "beta testing" and even if it is, they still offered you a product and you bought it. Research the product better next time if you don't understand how games like this work. You have every right to complain, obviously, but saying you've been "bamboozled" is a lie.

I guess you dont really know CA's history, or chose to be ignorant of it.

Has the patch been released? Did I miss it or something? My Rome II copy hasn't downloaded anything new to my knowledge since I started it a couple of hours ago.

Sounds good. keep the pressure up. it`s the Users, viewers, and fans who complain who get things happening. Well done.

This. Am I also missing something? The only thing available is the beta - no automatic updates.

Also, do they have any intention of doing something about flag points on open battle, all units shattering and running away from their own settlement instead of defending and making it more challenging, or reinforcements all running away with instant shattered morale with flag capture?

As it is now, the siege defender is quite easily routed because it is the nature of a siege for defenders to take casualties - they are there for survival, there fore it feels wrong that they just 'leave' when surrounded and boxed in.

Lastly, why can't we effectively kill routing units? Cavalry especially just dance around them and not kill even a third - just following to the edge of the map.

Of course, the naval battle and their lack of tide/current/wind, etc.

Cheers, wasn't aware there was a dev-build opt-in for Rome II.

This is all well and good, but I must warn you all to not get comfortable. Keep on their backs so they keep it up.

As soon as you lay off of them they will get lazy. Press them to release the steam workshop and modding tools.

This. The pressure must be maintained.

    2 Things:

    1. This was to expected, since, besides all the Hate towards CA, the Devs would not drop their brand new TW right after Release. Even if they dont really work with a passion for it and only for the money (this to say is difficult, because noone exactly knows what Devs have to deside when a Publisher like Sega is breathing down their neck and want them to generate profit), they would be wise to maintain a certian quality and support to their games, so they can work on the next title and expect that the series continue to sell, especially with the huge post-release selling factor...

So to say that continous work on an already released game doesnīt make the devs and publishers money canīt be more far from the reality.

    2. Donīt Fanboy know like people extremly hated at the release. Like already stated, pressure is important to keep them focused on the problems and show them that there is a real necessity. And that necessity is absolutely there. The AI is still far from where it should be after all the experience the Devs had with the last 10 years of Total War, still gameplay MUST be fixed and redone (Like the Civil Wars and the Politics/Family System, they are just Broken and not acceptable in their current state).
Just keep bombing them with constructive critism from all sites and we maybe get the game we wanted. The progress they made in the first 2 weeks shows that they can IF they want!

Fully agree with you. The patches are improving the game but a lot of pressure is still necessary.

Anyone got a clue when does this 2.0 come out as an official patch? Don't want to start a new campaign before its out... just can't do it
