    Default How is patch 2.0's CAI/BAI and battle speed? Have the battles and AI been fixed?

    • Campaign performance optimisations.
      Campaign AI round time improvements (greatest effect during early game).

      A new "Limited" option has been added to the "Show AI Player Moves" settings in Single Player an Multiplayer Campaign modes, this enables the player to see all movement of enemy factions, all movement within the players regions, and all movement within sea that the player has ports in during the AI turns.

      Improved AI recruitment decisions in Campaign modes. Further improvements planned for subsequent patches.
      Pathfinding optimisation on the Campaign Map.

      Gameplay Improvements

      Reduced infantry run speed, charge speed and acceleration in battles.

      The low level casualty moral penalties have been significantly reduced in battles.

      Improved balancing for Food and Squalor in Campaign Mode.

      Campaign AI is more likely to make a stand when defending its final settlement, but may still seek out another home, if they fear losing the final battle.

      Improved ship movement speeds in battles.

      Shock cavalry run speed and charge speed have been increased in battles.

      Increased flanking morale penalties.

      The Attribute increases for an agent accompanying an army now activate its associated effects on the general of that army in Campaign modes.

      Improved AI collision detection with Deployables in battle.


    These are the much awaited improvements to the CAI/BAI and battle speed that we have all been awaiting. They're there, amongst dozens of other fixes. All you have to do is go into Steam and opt into Patch 2.0 BETA.

    So... feedback? Battle speed? Campaign AI? Is it aggressive? Does the AI build more expensive units? Has it fixed the campaign AI's economy?

    The CAI already seems better to me. The enemy seem a lot less passive now; right at this moment, they're besieging two of my settlements, one of which is Rome, so it's obvious where the priorities should lie.

    I have to admit... they actually sped up the AI turn times, quite frankly I can't believe it. It went from 2-3 minutes to less than a minute each turn. However I had to start a new campaign to see it, my old savegames still lagged like crazy. I went through 30 turns very quickly just autoresolving everything just to test it.

    That was my biggest gripe with this game, the endless waiting. I'll keep testing for now

    First things first: benchmark performance is massively increased. Now to actually play the game...

    I give credit where credit is due: the battle speed is slower than before. I would estimate about 15% slower. With mods, it is starting to look pretty good.

    I played with Radious mod before this patch I think unit speed comparable, somewhat faster on vanilla but not by a lot, the turn-times are incredible and the removal of the capture-point on an open field battles (when the enemy attacks from a town you besieged) is gone so it makes the BAI on par with Shogun 2.

    Just had (and lost) a battle because there was a captured point in the middle of a random field, that's still in.

    Because its not a bug ?

    You not liking a gameplay design =/= a bug

    CA is not changing gameplay deisgn , they are just fixing major bug / CTD issue right now

    Doesn`t matter if it`s a bug or not. It matters if it`s a BAD design decision.

    the fact that reports of some Flags now being removed shows that CA will change something when enough people make them realise that they`ve done something stupid.

    And Flags should also be removed from marches, etc and left as it is or something better put in its place. Only in cities are they acceptable (as with old TWs).

    Seems to me that the CAI has gone from being brain dead to being quite devious. They're stretching me all over the province - it's going to be necessary to hunt them down (they're bound to be raiding and stuff as they go). They're not one unit armies either; I can see this leading towards more open field battles (hopefully without any goddamn flags to ruin them).

    Still, it takes 3 minutes to kill about 2000 man.

    Install one of the Radious mod for slower battle , it work great. Fast battle can be moded at least , stupid AI was harder to fix .

    Well if you using 2k Legionairies vs 2k spear levy battle will be fast still ... has it should be.

    Just tested battle with good units vs good units and I had to use flank to kill them fast

    hey guys, so this is kinda off topic. I am busy downloading the beta patch, but i realized now when i was in the game earlier that on the home screen, it says v 1.0.0 at the top right. So i just want to know if thats normal, considering there was already a few patches?

    note, im still downloading the beta patch, so its not applied yet.

    Yeah its a Beta patch the version won't change until the official patch...it might be just me or is the run button not working anymore ? other than that FPS on the campaign map is better...and i wish they would get rid of those capture points don't mind them in town but in a open field where your a sitting duck..no
