Default How to edit unit sizes in Rome II total war (number of men per unit)

    • If you want to edit your unit number individually then you need to:

    1) using PFM 3.0.2 open up data_rome2.pack file in your Data Folder.
    2) click on the DB tab
    3) scroll down and locate main_units and click on it. You will find a listing of all units and you can change all attributes not just unit numbers. Change your units to whatever you like.
    4) now locate land_units and click on it. You need to edit here the number of mounts riding units get. Or else you will see 3 to 4 men on each horse!!. Edit the number of mounts to the same number as your number of men.

    • If you want to edit your unit number using a multiplier then you need to:

    1) using ESF editor open up your save game.
    2) Click on compress_data >> campaign_env >> campaign_setup >> campaign_setup_options
    3) Change the second number to whatever you like. 2 will give 320 men per unit (2x160). 3 will give 480 men per unit (3x160) and so on. WARNING: this will give more ships per unit. So if this will bother you, then don't use the multiplier.

    • To edit the amount of men per unit starting in the campaign then you need to do it in your startpos file

Has anyone figured out (or is it even possible) to have a higher multiplier at the start of a campaign? Would be nice to start each new game with a multiplier already changed instead of having to modify a saved game each time.

Edit the startpos.esf instead of the save game. Same method.

I can get it working for saved game edits, but not for a higher multiplier at the start of a campaign, I edited the startpos.esf but nothing seems to of changed. New units i recruit are larger but the ones I start with are regular size.

If I edit the number of men in the PFM (in this example Roman Velites to 300 from 120 as a test) I don't see the new numbers in my save game, nor in a new campaign. In the same .pack file however I changed the research times and those new values ARE reflected ingame...?!

do you have any other mods installed? if so try removing those and see if it works then.

You go to the same table that the OP mentioned in his post (main_units). One of the columns say 'create time' I believe... edit those numbers as desired. It's what I can discern from comparing vanilla .pack and the 0turns recruitment mod pack file. Myrmedon

when I Open a saved game whit PFM I get an error. Why? And I edit all units in the radious mod and no change of units sizes in the campaign or custom battles.

Where do I go in the start pos file to edit the start campaign units. Can you post pics of both recruitable ones and starting armies..

    Thanks

I just wrote up a tutorial on how to do a basic mod but you beat me to it! I am also going to include doing a compilation and save game editing, with pictures. I already did them so might as well post them, but you covered the basics anyway. Hope I am not stepping on any toes.

I have a question. Can I change the units limit per army?
I want increase the number of men per unit but I want reduce the maximum number of units per army.
So for example 1000 men in a unit but max 6 units in the army.
1 unit of 1000 spearmen, 1 unit of 1000 heavy infantry, 1 of 1000 chavarly, 1 of 1000 archers etc.
    Is that possible?

How do I edit the stuff using PFM?

I made a copy of the data_rome2.pack and wanted to just mess around with that first.

So I opened the .pack on PFM.

Then I found the units tables with the stats etc bla bla blah.

But when I tried to edit the values, it wouldn't work. As in I click on the cell but I can't edit the cell.
How can I get access to edit the cell(s)?
