Default Installing with Steam; safe to install in C/Program Files?

I remember a few years ago that it was advised not to install EB in C/Program Files. The thing is, that's where the Steam folder with my Rome data is, so I've not got much choice here.

If I install EB into there is it doomed to crash and be plagued with bugs, or is that no longer a problem these days? Thanks!

I don't know for sure as I don't have Rome Total War on Steam, but I imagine it'd be completely fine and is probably the way you have to do it anyway. Hopefully someone with more experience can chip in and give a better answer.

No worries, this thread can be closed - at the time of making this thread my laptop, which has my Steam folder on the desktop and so doesn't run into the Program Files problem, wasn't working, so I was playing on the house PC. On the one hand having this back means that I can play EB, but on the other hand I've got a far smaller screen and less impressive machine to run games on....oh well, it plays EB well enough, and thanks to the massive disappointment of Rome 2, I can't think of anything that can't run on here that I'd like to be able to play!

I have installed it in Program Files, but my version was not with steam. That said, I had no problems with it.
