Default How to revert to Rome TW's original music?

Don't get me wrong, the music in this mod is great and all but for me nothing beats Rome TW's original tracks. From the soothing music on the campaign map to the epic battle music, it was spot on for the time period in my opinion.

So can someone tell me how to go about reverting the music back to Rome TW's original soundtrack? And please no 'play it on Media player' crap; Media Player doesn't dynamically change the music to suit the situation.

Great job on the mod and thanks in advance for any replies.

Anyone at all? All I want to do is get the vanilla Rome TW music back - shouldn't be too hard, surely?

Hello SonOfCrusader, I think I may be of some help.

If you go to the main "Data" folder for the original Rome Total War game (wherever you have it on your computer, most likely in a SEGA folder), you will find a text file that is titled "descr_sounds_music.txt".

    Copy that file.

Next, go to the main "Data" folder of the Roma Surrectum II mod (wherever your have it on your computer, most likely in your RTW folder). Now simply paste over the Roma Surrectum music file with the "vanilla" music file you copied above. Voila! You now have the original music from RTW.

I had to do this for playing RSII on my Macintosh, not for any aesthetic purpose like you're doing, but because the game crashed to desktop with the RSII music file. Otherwise you had to mute the music to play the game at all! I think vanilla RTW music is fine, regardless, and I'm not that disappointed with having to revert back to it.

I hope my instructions work for you.

Many thanks buddy. Hopefully someone can find a way to do this for Rome 2 as well, because the music is just... meh.

No problem! I'm glad everything worked out for you. As for Rome 2, I would have no idea how to fix it, haven't bought the game yet. From what I hear, though, it's not worth it until our great community here develops some mods for it.
