Massive FPS drops after clicking the first end turn
Hello,
Iīm a long standing total war fan, having played Rome I since itīs release having more than 900 hours played on, I consider it to be one of the best games ever (that rating includes the mods) and I was really anticipated for Rome II, sadly it didnīt quite turn out well but I have faith in CA and in a couple of months i hope the game will be as good as it can be.
However, I have another issue currently, I have two computers, one laptop and one stationary. I can run the game decently on my laptop (high settings with 25-40fps), on my stationary however, I am able to run it on extreme without any problems. I can do 20 vs 20 unit battles without the fps dropping below 30 on extreme. However, when it comes to the campaign map... As soon as I start a new campaign there are no problems, 60 fps. But as soon as I click end turn, the fps drops to about 5-10 and remains so even after the other factions turns (which takes over 7 minutes, 2 on my laptop) and makes the campaign utterly unplayable, does anybody have a solution or at least a reason for this?
I should also add that I can play the entire prologue without any problems what so ever.
Most appreciated, Aristhenes.
Specs:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M
8gb RAM

I thought i'd jump in on this one. I've got exactly the same problem with a similar 6-core set up, the second I press the 'end turn' button the game becomes utterly unplayable.

Re: Massive FPS drops after clicking the first end turn
I have seen lots of reports for that kind of lag for 6 cores CPUs. It could be related to multithreading problems in the Rome 2 engine.
Maybe u could try to change the thread settings in the preferences.script.txt file (from the %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts\ folder)
number_of_threads 4; # number_of_threads <int>, Set the number of threads <= 0 - automatic, >0 = explicit number #
There is also a setting for the pathing just below. I don't remember the exact name but it should be right below and has a default of -32. I don't know which values would be good but I would try something like 2-8 for this entry.
