Rebuilding Sound Files
I seem to be having an issue with rebuilding SFX.dat, SFX.idx, events.dat, and events.idx.
After I extract the SFX files and add the new mp3's I want (these are also listed in corresponding sound text files as well), when I go to start TATW after deleting the idx and dat files I mentioned before, I get to the first loading screen, then the program just exits w/o any error message. Nothing in the system.log points to any kind of internal error. When I look in the sounds folder, the game has regenerated the four files; however, SFX.dat and SFX.idx are both 1kb in size, and events.dat and events.idx are both less than 1/3rd the size of the originals, which makes no sense.
I've been googling the hell out of this issue for about a few days as well as tried to figure out what is going on wrong, but most of the threads end with dead ends (no pun intended). I've also tried to repack the SFX files with the re-released XIDX tool. Even going about it that way results in a crash on startup. While the SFX files are properly sized (although sometimes the game likes to edit the ones I repacked via 3rd-party for some odd reason resulting in a loss in size or simply 1kb files -- so I gave up on this solution), the events.dat and events.idx are generated with essentially 1/3rd their original sizes.
Basically, after adding the new SFX files and deleting the SFX.dat/SFX.idx & events.dat/events.idx, the game crashes at the first loading screen, and the SFX files generated are 1kb while the events files generated are 1/3rd their original.
I have absolutely no clue why the game will not properly regenerate the files (it most likely has to do with the startup crash which I do not get if I use the original files). Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: Rebuilding Sound Files
Sorry for the second post but I forgot to add something and I can't edit my posts yet.
I'm pretty sure the events.dat and events.idx files are generating at a size that is less than the original size because SFX.dat and SFX.idx are being generated as 1kb files for some odd reason. If I can figure out the cause of that, then the events files should be able to regenerate properly.

Re: Rebuilding Sound Files
I no longer need help. I have resolved my issue. Apparently someone involved in creating a submod I'm using forgot to remove a few unused variables from the sound text files, causing the rebuilding process to be incomplete on each run. Removing the variables effectively rebuilt the idx and dat files properly.
