Default [Question] how to buff the HP on troops.[answered]

    hey there,

i am trying to rebalance the spartan army to have really powerfull units but have less of them than their competing troops. making the individual spartan feel powerfull without making them overpowerd. cause lets be honest just making them more expensive doesnt work for campains, you have no problem getting a full stack of 1k silver troops. i am aiming at 120 troops for the royals/pike/hoplites and 80 for the heroes. leaving the perioikoi as they are.

however after trying to balance this the whole evening the main thing i feel thats holding it back is that the bonus HP value doesnt seem to do anything. i have even tried it to put at extremely high (250) and they still die like no ones business.

is this a bug? or am i simply changing the wrong thing here?
thanks in advance if anyone has a solution.

I'm pretty sure bonus HP does nothing and is just an unused value. You could instead change their melee defence. A Spartan dies to an arrow just like any other man, but their melee prowess on the battlefield is what made them better than most.

i agree fully with you, the main problem with that is the current state of the phalanx...
since they dont hold ANY sort of battle line when fighting above their numbers they get surrounded really fast. and no amount of melee defence is going to counter a backstab

the strange thing is though that units ingame actualy have different amounts of HP, the thing that makes the spartes a tad better hoplites than the other is that they have 10hp more.
i just cant seem to find that value in the data as of yet.

thanks for the fast reply anyhow

oke, after going quite extreme and back with the defence and attack stats and back i think this wil work anyway

i actualy kinda like it, they still die from javalins and arrows like normal bronze armor troops so you have to get some cheap troops to eat those instead.

Sweet, I guess it adds an extra element of strategy and means your units aren't too OP. Speaking of hitpoints I've not seen any value for it either, I've not messed with unit stats yet but is a units HP some base HP value that is the same for all units plus their bonus HP?

thats what i thought to, but for example the roman gladiators have a bonus HP value of 25 but an ingame HP value of 35 making 10 the baseline. however the berzerker has an bonus HP of 20 and an ingame hp of 60 (highest ingame i think) so that clearly makes no sense so i think either it does nothing, or its some sort of hidden stat to make some troops stronger. but the limited testing i have done with it didnt show any more survivability, my spartan heroes with 250 bonus hp still died like flies.

the african elephant has 15 bonus HP and 486 HP ingame but those might have a completely different base ofc.

Ok... I've found it. *I think*

    Check the "battle_entities" table.

For example the elephant entry has 450hp.

ha! yes you are right. i changed the heroes HP to 200 and the indian elephants to 40 to test it. and indeed 400 dead oathsworn vs the spartans and elephants dying from 2 arrows

wel i kinda when onboard with your thoughts of buffing their skills and they are sort of balanced right now, i just added the ability to carry 2 javalins to the heroes and i am testing that atm.
but this wil be usefull in the future thanks!

edit: is there anyway to edit the title to [solved] or something?

I was looking for that, to double the hp of all units in the game to keep the balance of weapon damage, projectiles, attack and defense but have the soldiers die more slowly.
