Default How do you unlock factions?

Hey guys, I know there's a mod for this already but having never modded before I really want to start in Rome 2. So while I think it has something to do with the startpos.esf file along with the political factions in the db jack mentioned in his post, could anyone just give me a quick run through of how to unlock just a single faction, remembering I'm pretty much a complete noob just changed unit sizes for units including cav units so far.
    Thanks

i unlocked the seleucid the way to do that is easy you only have to change some words using this program http://sourceforge.net/projects/pack...7.zip/download that i take from the forum you open the startpos that is here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\data\campaigns\main_rome you open with the program the file and you go to campaing startpos snd later to campaing player array (im going to use the example of seleucid you entry on player array in this way and later you open the number 18 that is of seleucid like this

later you go to this way

now you put the word the same that i have

    this is the third step

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

in the forth step change the number taht the faction have so you have to be more careful

i think it is done if you have same questions ask me

Hey thanks a bunch, I managed to unlock Armenia but I didn't change the faction number and it still worked fine, so why should I do that?

no you dont have to change the numbres that have each faction you only have to look for the number that have each faction the number only change on the last picture because up there are the factions that are unlocked since you buy the game is the reason i dont know if i have aswered you question

I don't understand, sorry. The first 3 pictures shows the no 18 (for Seleucid). Now on the last picture the number for Seleucid is now 25 and the value is 27. Do we have to do anything about it ?

Just follow this guide from Shogun 2 as it still applies http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Clans-Playable. Then after you do what it says in that tutorial just follow the instructions on adding political parties to those factions in Jack Lusteds post here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...n-Modding-Info

Thanks. I however find it easier to mod it strictly using PFM and including the startpos within the mod pack file itself rather than over writing the vanilla file.

Still the instructions are pretty much the exact same other than that extra step

Take a look at AFP mod in my signature, all playable factions mod. Look at mod structure, it's pretty straightforward to figure it out. Also, see what's changed in the ESF. Really ESF is the unlocker and the DB tables just make CUSTOM BATTLE availability. Everything else is more addon with starting faction descriptions, traits, campaign selection graphics and so on. Best!

I did try last night and while the faction in showing (Armenia in my case), the game stop working halfway when loading a campaign. Is it because I made it mod pack style ? Or is it because I also edited the 4th step (someone mentioned that it's not needed).

I've replicated exactly based on the mod structure of the all factions playable mod and have only been unable to unlock Massilia, every other faction hangs the game and won't load.

I know my startpos is correct, as it loads with the all factions playable pack, but not mine. I have tried to save it as both a mod or movie, but neither work.

Is it still just the two files as per Lusted's post?

Did you over write the vanilla startpos or like me you put it in a mod pack ?

As far as I understand you're not supposed to put it into a modpack, it's always delivered besides the .pack to be replacing the original startpos.esf.

Like the afp, I have the startpos and pack separate. Are there some true/false rules for minor factions that differ? Can you please list the mandatory file names for the afp to work, and should it be a mod or movies pack?

TuranianGhazi or anyone who has got this working, can you please tell me what is wrong with my files and why it is not loading?

My startpos works if I use the afp pack, so I know the error must be in my db files but I cannot work it out. I neiter works saved as a mod or movie.

I guess noone else is having any luck unlocking factions then, other than the Seleucids? No matter what I do according to previous ways to unlock factions, everything crashes. I was able to do it a few days after the game came out and not since.
