Default Seems to be coding in place for a Radial System.

So that kind of shows how they plan to make it easy for controllers to play the game.

Glad some of the older modders retired so they wouldn't have to see where the series was headed.

sweeeeeeeeeeeet at the very least I hope they add controller functionality to the PC version.

Would much rather play with a 360 or XBox One controller on my couch or leaning back in my chair than hunched over a desk.

Is there any way to enable what they have in there so far?

I'm sure there is, I just don't care to enable it.

Glad someone is happy about it. Enjoy your new Total War Series, I'm done.

I wonder if CA ever realized dumbing down the game for consoles was their worst decision ever. They are alienating the rest of their playerbase, including new players, and making everyone dubious about pre-ordering anything made by them anymore. If that's the way they are heading then good riddance. After Spartan: Total Warrior and Viking: Battle for Asgard we say with a clear conscience that CA can't make console games worth .

Oh get over it drama queens.

Does the AI currently have some buggy behavior? Yes.
Are there missing features and unfinished features? Yes.
Will those issues be addressed? Yes.

Is the game "dumbed down"? No.

All PC gamers need to concern themselves with is that it's an alternate (read: superior) control method. That's it. An alternate (superior) control method and a port to consoles that will expand the games audience 10 fold if not more.

Sorry, Mistype. I meant to say. Rome 2 is a huge disappointment and that the control scheme is not only an alternative control method, but a terrible one. One that is meant to be covered in doritos.

You've got CA and a little place called Total War Center working on it.

A console version or even controller support for the PC version isn't going to change the fact that PC players will always have the best graphics and can downsample from 13247825809736p with 58x MSAA and SweetFX

    and most importantly... still mod.

This is much ado about nothing really. If anything there should be fanfare and rejoicing.

And remember, there will NEVER be cross online play between PC and XBox or Playstation. So you don't have to worry about 18 year old dude bro's in the dorm tweekin out on Mountain Dew and Red Bull telling you to get sniped while they smear Dorito dust on those amazingly comfortable and sexy controllers (although it would be much better with Kinect, but I digress).

Go ahead an play an RTS, an FPS, and hell even a traditional RPG like the first Dragon Age, Baulders Gate or Planescape with a controller. Go ahead. I'll wait.

Terrible, right? Ok, now go ahead and play those same games with a mouse and keyboard. This is either blatant flamebaiting or legit idiocracy. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and call it trolling.

I remember so many instances of people getting mad over console ports.

XCOM Enemy Unknown was a recent one.

"It was born on PC!" they said.
"But how can you play without a mouse and keyboard!?!?!" they said.

Turns out playing it with a controller was superior to playing with the mouse and keyboard. And ironically the XCOM battle config is exactly how you would control and move around the campaign map in R2TW.

The battles though.... the battle map is made for Kinect.

I'm going to play Amnesia A Machine for Pigs right now. On PC. With a 360 controller. The way it's meant to be played. (you can have your line back now Nvidia)

Good example. I also consider the new XCOM a vastly inferior product to the original. I played through it once on Classic and doubt I will ever touch it again because I've now seen what the themepark has to offer, and what it offered wasn't that good either.

By comparison I've played >15 campaigns of the original x-com and probably still would play if the UI didn't feel so bad these days.

I loved the original XCOM too. I definitely feel the same way where I'd still be playing that over the current one if the graphics weren't so dated.

You called the new version a "themepark" so I'm guessing your main problem with it was the lack of randomly generated maps. Me too. But that is mostly because it was made for the PS3/360. They couldn't handle that. However, Rome 2 can be ported straight to XBox One and PS4 with extreme settings and all and they don't have to sacrifice anything.

The mouse is superior to an analog stick. If I were to take a coordinate grid and have a mouse or an analog stick compete to see who can reach coordinate pair x then y then z quicker the most inexperienced mouse user would reach these coordinates quicker than the most experienced analog stick user.

Xcom enemy unknown was a dumbed down version of the previous Xcom games.

Battle map made for Kinect(retarded gimmick ripoff of a sony eyetoy which was another failed gimmick) you cannot be ing serious.

Motion controls are the biggest console gimmick(the games ing suck)

What I can gather from this post is that you are inherently hostile to any accusations towards CA for dumbing down R2. All forms of criticism no matter how valid are void in your mind.

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ
