Game crashing at startup

Hi,
Today I bought the game on steam, installed it, and after 5 precious hours of download, it won't start.
The game basically crashes when I press "Play" on the Rome II launcher, for no explainable reasons, just saying "Rome II has stopped working".
Steam says that the game is okay, and my hardware is far more advanced than the raccomanded specs

Intel i5 3570k 3.4Ghz Quad core
Nvidia GTX 670 2GB
8GB of Ram
Win7 64bit

Drivers are also up to date.

Since the game has not officially started even once, it does not generate any scripts or logs to look at. It's just a crash.

Does anyone here knows how to fix it?

Yeah I have quite a similar problem. Since launch more than a week has past now and I still cannot even start the game.
I click on the "Play Button" and the sound appears as if the game would start. Then.... nothing.. absolutely nothing. No starting screen, no error message ... just nothing happens.
every time I click on "Play" a .mdmp-gets created in the Rome 2 folder ( e.g. rome2_6955_crash_2013_9_10T21_28_17C0)
All other TW titles can be started as supposed from the TW launcher.
Specs are
i7 860 @2,8Ghz
HD 5850
Win 7 64-bit
latest drivers, windows updates and catalyst driver...
FIX THIS CA!

Hi, i reset the Grafiksoftware from my ATI Radeon 7770, and now Rome 2 start´s. But when i play my save game, it freeze during the first Battle i play....

Yep same problem

I reinstall steam ,Rome 2 , beta2 installed, etc , nothing worked

Few players with similar problems they made it work by running it on windows , by changing the script here:
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts and change the gfx full-screen sentence to false (dotn forget to save changes when you x it)
it did not work for me either.


I am afraid that when a steam is on and running a patch update may accidentally I click "cancel " , and steam screw up java or something else on windows and will require to reinstall windows.

Ok here is the solution , sounds funny but it did work
Go to
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2 folder right click and rename the word "Rome2" the name of the game to any other name and will load the game
i rename it to "rome4"
other players were not that polite naming CAs launcher mess .

cc:you dotn need to play on beta just run the game and set up the graphics low/hight and resolution as you like from options of the game after it load.

I've the same problem since last night after downloaded Beta Patch. I've re-installed the game, verified the integrity of the cache several times hovewer when I try to launch the game, launch box appears, a window consisted of total war games appears. When I press play, nothing happens. However, I was able to play the game 24 hours ago...

Please, I need some help...
