Sorry to be a pain but would it be possible to provide a version where Spartan Heroes have the vanilla helmet options please, I want them to really stand out

Love it! Especially the cloaks on the royal spartans, beautiful. However, any chance of adding bronze plate armor onto more regular troops, like the spartan hoplites and spartan pikes? Maybe have a vary between them atleast, as of now they look kind of cloned.

    Well done though!

Hmm, I have no idea why that would be happening... you dropped the .pack file into the data folder, right? I'm not sure what would be preventing the changes from showing up.

As for providing a version where the Spartan Heroes have the standard helm option it'd be relatively simple, so I'll throw it together and post it tonight.

aNarion: I'm tempted to add bronze chestplates to the Spartan Hoplites, but I feel that it kind of makes them somewhat redundant. We would then have three different bronze armored hoplite units in the roster. I'm actually wondering how I could go about adding in some new units, seeing as Sparta basically has nothing buy Hoplites. I'm just not sure what units should be added, I don't want to just clone the Thorax Swordsman or something like that... Any ideas?

Great mod, I love it, but I've noticed that when you changed the thorax swordsmen it changed it for macedon and the other factions that use it as well. For those reasons could you touch up the thorax pikemen in the same way, just for consistency.

Sparta is a little hard to do.

So, I'm working on touching up the Thorax Pikemen, but I do have a question. They're a fairly distinctly successor type unit, not necessarily a Greek unit. Should they get Corinthian helms? Or should I stick with the Thracian/Phyrigian combo for the standard version, and the Phyrgian helm for the uniform? Or the Thracian?

    A couple of observations:
    - The Spartans now are the same size as every average sized unit. They are no longer taller than other Greeks as they were. Before they were the same size as barbarians.
    - The Thorax swordsmen for the Macedonian is now that of the Athenian type you have changed. (not complaining looks wayyy cooler)
    - Perhaps the current texture on the shields makes it slightly harder to see the Lambda. Also maybe you could change the shield texture so it differs between lower units and higher tier units - to create some diversification.

Also for the Spartan Swordsmen idea, I think giving the Spartans a sword melee unit would be a very good idea. I wouldn't mind a clone of the Thorax Swordsmen, it is a very cool looking unit - obviously with the addition of a very cool Spartan beard. A few other units could be added too - a Spartan archer unit perhaps?

Another thing you could add - Remove the unit caps for the Spartans. Especially the hoplite cap. The Spartan hoplites aren't even that good so god knows why they put a cap on them.

I can see a very very good Spartan overhaul mod springing from this and gladly received it would be! The Spartans are definitely too weak as it stands. The heroes of Sparta are supposed to be amazing hence the 2 unit cap - But they just turned out to be quite disappointing.

Anyway very very good work. I look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Or maybe you could take the Royal Thorax Swordsmen from Egypt and Spartan them up a bit?

I wouldn't go for a Spartan archer unit, since they thought of it as a cowards weapon.

I changed the Spartans height to standard Greek height because it didn't make any sense for them to be taller than other Greeks. They were stronger and more fit, but there's no evidence to say they were taller. And yeah, both the Thorax Swordsman and Hoplite for Macedon were changed. Without creating new units for them for their own versions, there's nothing I can really do. It makes some sort of sense, as they're basically greek units deployed by Macedon.

I'm considering just giving the Perioikoi units the same shields as regular hoplites, but bronze. For the other Spartan hoplite units, I feel that the unified shields work fairly well.

And as for the sword melee unit, I too love the way the Thorax Swordsman looks. I'm just worried that it may make the Athenian and Spartan rosters too similar. If I go ahead with it, and can figure out how to add new units, I may add another, lower tier sword unit for Athens, maybe Athenian marines.

And finally as for changing the unit cap, I don't really want to mess too much with anything other than unit appearance for right now to maintain compatability with things like Radious' mods, which I personally use.

    Perhaps not archers then.

The Spartan Hoplites need a bit of a beef up as well. Their stats are a little disappointing. Is it possible to edit unit stats? Or have the modders not cracked that one yet?

My personal preference would be a good mix all around. They have to fit into the bactrian and seleucid rosters without standing out that much as well. Unless you figured out how to clone it and make a greek only one, but my experiments haven't been too fruitful on this until someone puts out a guide.

You could make units from the other city-states of the Peloponnese. Such as Corinth and Argos.

Well, for the non-uniform version they have a mix of all the regular pikemen helms with corinthian thrown in. It's for the Uniform pack that I'm wondering which I should do.

Yeah giving the Perioikoi the normal hoplite shield might be a good move.

As for similarity in Rosters - They are going to be somewhat similar anyway due to their locality to each other - I wouldn't worry about it. As long as they have those Spartan shields and beards!

On another note - Heroes of Sparta - Do you think they should have 160 not 120 in a unit?
