Apparantly some people are not satisfied with the game performance. Unfortunately our capacity is limited and so there is a need to find out if working on sprites and LOD's is worth the effort.
Please vote.
I have no problem with performance
Performance is acceptable all in all
Performance is inacceptable

Mines been fine. On a battle with two completely full stacks it was a bit slower, but still playable, and my computer is not high end in the least bit.

My relevant specs:
Athlon 3200+ XP Processor
1gig RAM
Radeon X800XL graphics
Playing on highest possible settings. Performance is fine on Huge unit size even with two full stacks, although it gets very sluggish if you try and accelerate the simulation with even one full stack. The key thing that I notice is that there is no discernible difference between performance in ATW and in any other mod/vanilla.

Well... this speaks a clear language, doesn't it?
Three words: " It runs fine".
Oh alright...more words, full settings on everything and it no slowdowns experienced at all.
Relevant Specs:
AMD 3500 64 @3ghz
6800GT @ Ultra speeds
1 gb ram.
It runs rather fine... But since you allready have sprites, please code them in. It will make the mod more polished and even better...
My stats:
AMD Athlon 2800 +
nVidia GeForce 6600 GT on full speed
500 MB RAM
On a side note... Ich bin süchtig nach ATW. Kann ich jemanden verklagen?

I have an extremely old computer with Radeon 9200 and 1.5gig ram, so I'd certainly appreciate the sprites. I couldn't play the campaign on huge because even a battle with two quarter stacks brought the FPS down to about a snail's pace, but it's fine on large settings.
I can put 1,000 soldiers on the battlefield total on the lowest settings and not have it lag too much.So I would like to have sprites in future patches if possible. Other than that this mod is awesome, props to the developers for their hard work.
Impossible to play.
I have a 6150 card, I can play 5000 men battles on RTW no problem, but even a 300 men battle is impossile if I zoom out. Please use sprites! You're really killing it for all of us with an intergrated card.

As stated in an earlier thread, totally unplayable on huge settings. P4 3Ghz, 1 gig ram, 256 meg 9600xt, all drivers updated etc etc
Tried on the large scale with minimum settings, and its relatively playable with borderline acceptable lag when faced with full stack battles.
Still looking forward to playing on the huge scale as this mod was meant to be played. Currently on vh/vh, large scale with elmet (supposed very hard faction) and its not near as difficult as i expect it to be, maybe cause its a horse archer faction, but prob cause im playing on large scale and can easily churn out troops to steamroll over the AI.
I've to admit that it's the only side of the mod I didn't like. Im used too get some lag when two full-stack army start throwing every missiles they got but normally, i've to zoom in for that. The problem's that even if i zoom out to get a general view, it start to lag even more badly![]()
I don't know if it's because of the sprites or something else but it must have something wrong going on. I even removed the grass and it didn't make any change at all, i know my pc need to be upgraded but i was always able to play most of the mod released for that game without trouble. Right now, my units size in the preference.txt is at 100-125 and everytime i move it to 150 or over, it became almost impossible fight the battle myself and i've to always use the auto-resolve![]()
I think it'll be a good idea to look if you can improve that side of the mod, it'll help alot of low performance PC user like me to enjoy even more your great mod. Since each battle are so important and the units size even more important to the economy, i think it's something need to be done.
P.S.I didn't wanted to sound negative, like i said, it's the only thing i've a problem with but in the same time your mod's so great that even that will not stop me even if i've to keep it at 100

I hope voters had vote based on their experience playing on huge unit scale settings (very much doubt that every1 did that), as the mod campagin was meant to be played in (read the playing instructions). This is so that if there are sufficient grounds of complaint, then the modders may give greater consideration to either tune the campagin to be played on lower unit scales or resolve the performance issues.
Personally
On medium scale: Mostly smooth with average graphics settings
On large scale: Borderline acceptable lag (in full stack battles) with minimal graphic settings
On huge scale: totally unplayable in near stack battles with minimal graphic settings
Impossible to play for me. pls use at least sprites.
My PC:
Athlon XP 3000+
1 GB Ram
Geforce 6800
Hybris
It works perfectly well for the most part. Battles are no problem, but there are still some bug issues that cause CTDs which are annoying (especially since they often involve sieges, rendering some settlements uncapturable)
could you be a bit more precise? do you have have a savegame eventually? I actually have no clue what you mean...Originally Posted by Soggius Chippius

Lod and sprites would be helpfull for the life of this mod.

I love the look of the mod and I really just like everything about it! (Also while installing, I was a amazed at all the support you had in place to help overcome the little glitches like the Dump file -- the ATW mod team deserves much praise.) Unfortunately, I had to quit the game during the first battle and uninstall it. THe movement was so sluggish and reducing the Video levels down to the minimum on every level didn't help. I don't have a problem running the other mods but even if you do recode ATW -- I think I will use this as an excuse to get a better box! -- LOL -- but I just thought I'd share my experience. Thanks for a great mod! and Good luck with it!
We were first planning to release the sprites with the 0.7 big update, but seeing the insistance I guess we will come with a patch earlier on. I just did a massive test of the sprites, with Antagonist cross checking and most units currently got right ones - and only one was causing CTD. Actually very few are included in the package (forgot to put them in) so don't try enable them yourself.
So expect a patch this week if all tests are ok (we will also add a better economy), including most of sprites, and also gaelic voices and stone walls corrected, plus various other stuff.
Edit: wanna throw in my config too![]()

I like it - an awesome mod, and the only reason I signed onto this site really...
The campaign is fine, and so are small games, but on anything larger it lags annoyingly
My laptop (which is what I play it on), has something like a 1.5 GHz processor and 768 RAM... Rome and BI worked fine with medium and large, but this one is restricted to small.
Please do whatever possible to make this mod perfect![]()
