    Default Big dissappointment!

If something is not broke don't fix it.

Having put in over 1800 hrs and 4000 battles in the Avatar Campaign and now having played Rome II, I find the format for multiplayer battles is better in Shogun II. To be more specific what I mean about format are things like unit stats appearing when you mouse over them.

-I like the fact that other players can't see your win lose record and leave before the battle even starts, that's great, thanks.
-I like the animations very historical, great job.
-I like how you can change the size of the unit banners in game, very nice and other stuff like the missile trails.
-I like the way you can minimize different windows on the battle screen and bring them up again.
-I like the los and the way it works.
-I like the about turn/face ability.
-I like unique characteristic of some units, ie heat and cold resistant.

The following is a list I compiled of things I don't like in no particular order.

    No ladder for ship battles.

    No guard mode.

    No spread out mode.

Replays in a mess again not accurate.

    No rewind button on replays.

Romans too strong. Animation for Romans throwing pila nfg, you had it down pat in the original Rome bring it back! It's almost like they don't even stop to throw it.
I certainly hope when the Romans from the Justinian era come out the animations for throwing the Plumbata are correct. (UNDERHAND). Please don't disappoint on that issue.

    Sparta too strong.

Unit cards I find hard to interpret in the heat of battle, the General is hard to find. As mentioned in other threads on this same subject make them so we know what we are looking at. Give two options with a check mark one for the ones you want us to use and one for the more traditional.

Too many bells and whistles i.e every time you activate a special ability, fire works go off(all that glitter above the unit. No need for it! Reminds me of some childrens games, it has to go or at the very least toggle the damn thing off. It's effect totally takes away from the historical accuracy of the unit animations.

Too many special abilities. The only unit that should have more then two is the General unit.

Missile units need adjusting, not enough damage for the slingers (elite slingers).

The 20 minute timer is a step back. I find people camping on the hills whit artillery. Makes the game very boring waiting for the 20 min timer to finish just to get a draw. Bring back the dojo's!

Finally no pdf doc that we can download and read while sitting on the thrown. I have mentioned this before. I can't find the information I am looking for in the game encyclopedia in reference to special abilities. I am sure it's there I just don't have that kind of time to track it down. There is a lot of information that could be put in there that would answer a lot of questions. Example, health in game terms?

You should of at least beta tested the multiplayer and we would not be getting half the issues we are getting now.
3K needs to have an Avatar Campaign!!!

Your opinion. However everyone that I asked in MP said they hated the new MP and wanted avatar conquest back. Shogun 2 had the most fun and featured MP in Total War of all time.

Around 200 people on my friends list are totalwar MP players most dating back to ETW MP days and most of them didnt have time for the avatar system.I think it might be a generational thing, damn COD kids these days.

Actually here is a video a clan mate made that pretty much explains why STW2 MP was bad.

Generational thing? COD kids? FYI I've played TW since Shogun 1. I don't even get what you're saying when you say "COD kids" when the old MP system is about as arcadic and repetitive as it gets! The point in the avatar system is that you had to progress through the system just like everyone else had to. Besides, the feeling of accomplishment and ties you actually have to YOUR army/avatar is much better. I remember playing MP on all of the older TWs and none of them were as fun as Shogun 2. It's funny you say clanmate because honestly you probably wouldn't have as much of a tight group of people to play with all the time if it weren't for the clans being there in the avatar system in the first place. No real competitions, no real accomplishment, no real reason to play MP anymore. I know it's all my opinion, but they really did have innovation going on for the MP side of the game and then they strip it all out for Rome 2, which is super disappointing. Competition in Rome 2 is a joke.

None of my clan really played STW2 MP,most guys just want to jump into a match and have a good game not change the color of your army pink, grind at a unbalanced game to unlock retainers that lets your general shoot rockets out of his ass or use the same builds over and over again just to get your units to a lvl where you can try a strategy. It was all a load of garbage that got in the way of a good game.

I don't mind the customizing general costume thing from shogun but the avator leveling and vet +token is just dreadful.

more stuff from rome 2 that pissed me off:

    - quick in lobby faction countering selection bullcrap. Someone start the clock right away and the faction choice forplay begins. picked rome -> he pick egypt ->pick macedon -> he pick rome -> i go egypt ->he go macedon ===== nobody got time for army select in 60 sec countdown so u end up with your own preset army
    - map imba. some one spawn right on top of a hill and u at the bottom
    - 20 min limit does not let enough time for even a skirmish vs skirmish fight so ppl just end up rushing
    - ppl run around with 1 melee cav to get the draw result timer cuz 20 min isn't much
    - the freaking whip of sword inf reset their fatigue level so no more skirmishing
    - once again lead everything to rush vs rush

    I agree with the OP.
Mp feels like barebones and needs some sort of a vet system otherwise its gonna be extremely boring very soon.

Yeah, now I always group my general first and alone so I know he'll always be on the far left of my unit cards. But yeah, hopefully there will be unit cards mods soon, just like Shogun 2, those were awesome. And please, fix replays asap.

Missiles does a lot of damage it's just that it takes some time before you see results due to the increased emphasis on HP.

And I can speak for players going back even furter to RTW that none of us liked the avatar system and that the return of the old system is a massive improvement, but all this remains anecdotal anyway just as the pro-avatar people. Still pro-avatar people are most likely a vocal minority.

I played quite a bit of Shogun 2 MP and had fun with it but they avatar progression system had problems. First it is a huge barrier for new players you have to play for ages just to unlock all of the units if that's not enough you are at a disadvantage unless you have been able to level up a army of vet units in the right way. What I find now if I pay Shogun 2 MP is I am limited as to what army I use because of the vet units I have had time to level up. I think it is right it is not in Rome 2.
Lastly Shogun had one pool of units to use and customise for the avatar as it was in Japan but in Rome there are factions with different selections of units I just don’t see the avatar system working with that.
