Could you produce a preliminary mod that adds some amazons to the Libyan, Tharcian/Sarmatian factions? Possibly also as a mercenary unit? It doesn't have to be comprehensive, just a few additions would do. I would love some Amazons archers.

    Nice idea.
If you will convert Rome 1 models it will be totally weird. Maybe in Empire it looks good, but difference between models of Empire and Rome 2 is bigger than Medieval 2 and Empire.

    Look at this list
    1. Rome
    2. Medieval 2
    3. Empire
    4. Napoleon
    5. Shogun 2
    6. Rome 2

Empire is the 1st game after Medieval 2.
Rome 2 is the 3rd game after Empire.
    The gap is enormous graphic

I think this is very pervy so i it's way to much, ignore it. But I have an idea that like an Amazon unit sacrifices/ritual suicides itself for like their gods etc. to ensure the victory. That would boost the morale of other Amazon units during the whole game to unbreakable. Without that Amazon units dont rout but do the suicide so destroying an Amazon unit has a moral penalty

We are not converting the entire Rome I mod to the Rome II there are three phases, and the first one is indeed to add Amazon units to the Rome II, everything else would stay the same.

How goes the stability testing? We are three patches in, probably the best it's going to get?

We don't know until we run an automated system test.

I thought you were on ORG?

Anyway thats real good news Parthian. No idea about the tech involved but i am sure you'll manage. If I had to suggest core units that you should switch over they would be

    militia hoplites,
    swordswomen,
    peltests,
    heavy peltests,
    line plumbatari cohort,
the other type of cohort with the circular shield,
    militia horse archers,
    round shield cavalry
    pathfinder cav/foot.

Probably be easier to start with just those units; maybe with the geothe priestesses as well for an elite cult unit. I tended to always use these units and they're the among the best animated ones as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if Armenia recieved a DLC upgrade to make it playable with an expanded roster for all the eastern factions. So I would hold out on adding any of the expanded non-amazon units like noble maidens until that comes around.

How are you going to make them playable factions exactly? I thought it was like Shogun where you couldn't unlock factions to make them playable. Would you need to replace existing factions like Pontus?

Wouldn't the gender of generals be simple now that there isn't a family tree and its all done by ancillaries and you recruit generals from a pool? Unless there is a family tree system and I've never seen it that is!

Also, I assume this is a lot simpler than creating skins for Rome 2? How difficult would it be to do that exactly?

I'm thrilled to hear you're working on porting A:TW to Rome 2. You've done some hard work, and it's be great to see what you can do with the latest engine.

I have to echo the sentiments of some of the others about the thermite weapons, mines and wagon-tanks though. They didn't seem to fit as well, and just weren't very fun to play. Maybe this is a good point to consider moving those elements that to a side-mod?

I agree that it is great to see that ATW will be on Rome 2. I also agree that these special weapons didn't bring that much fun or interesting aspects to the game. The "Matriarchal Equestrian Society and the Goddess Cult" were or would be enough. I would also support moving these features to a side-mod.

Sorry, being on the TWorg so did not have the time we used to to read the posts.

We have the units mentioned done for warscape but still waiting for some utilities to work better. But for now, we are still trying to release the newest Amazons Total War 8.0B, so everything is somewhat slow going.

I think some of the posts missed the boat (my personal opinion entirely), the mod is about equestrian matriarchal society, and what weapons they could have in the ancient time.

It seems that the comments about the units being overpowering obviously came from people who have not played the mod on Rome Total War in long while.

The phase I goal is to release some of the Amazon units, but the ultimate goal is to have Amazons Total War mod implemented for Rome II, we are not here for the entertainment business, we are after anthropology simulation. If you are expecting yet another hoplite vs. legionnaire in a me-too Greco-Roman mod, this is not the mod for you. Amazons Total War mod has been the top ranking mod on ModDB for the past few months, there are only two feedback out of thousands reflecting the overpowering discussion and after they realize they can play the mod in a different perspective, even these two comments are withdrawn.

Just an update, our assistant team leader Bibi is on leave and will not be back until 2014, and our development team also decided to focus on Amazon Culture, not just adding Amazon units to Rome II, so we would like to see if we can publish the first and second phase together.

    Wat?

    amazon-naked-women-modern-tactics-long-range-artillery-impossible-model-converting-mod?

i'm sorry, you cant simply convert your models to rome II. because every single unit part is a seperate thing. in empire and napoleon the model consisted of one variantmesh only.
since shogun 2 you have to make a variantmehsdefinition from with skin, helmet, armour, shiels, weapons and trousers. which is way more practical but makes it impossible to use previous games meshes i think.
good luck anyways, if you manage to do this somehow: my honest respect!

As one Artifex to another, I need to point out that I never assume my fellow TWC members can not deliver on what they promise or their capability might fall short but rather I would judge by the outcome of their work. The truth is, our dev team is no stranger to warscape, so please let us not make this sound too daunting. I said "porting" and it does not mean running the unit animation through a conversion process, so perhaps your comment here read a bit too much into the description and assume certain things as if people posting the comments do not know what they are doing.

We have one assistant team leader on leave, and that is the only reason this project is not moving forward.
